    PicoBrew Zymatic

I’ve got a Zymatic I’m not using anymore, just wanted to see if anyone could use it, I’d rather it didn’t just go to the trash. I’m in NW Washington, willing to drive a bit to meet up. Not interested in shipping it.

    PicoBrew Zymatic

I've got a question. I went through the process linked above of getting a server running on a raspberry pi. I can connect my Zymatic to the PICOBREW access point, but then when I try to load the recipes on the machine, I get a message that it "can't get to picobrew.com to load recipes". Is this...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

I'm using an old G4 iBook instead of a RPi. This seem to be loading quicker today, so maybe it was just an anomaly.

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

So I followed the instruction here: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showpost.php?p=6594822 to set up the external BrewPi page, but now the page takes forever to load (both from an external computer, and from my local network). Anyone experience something similar? Any ideas on how to speed it up?

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

It turned out to be simple. Somehow the IP address I was using on the BrewPi computer wasn't actually the IP address of the computer on the network. Not sure how/why that works, but once I got the correct IP address, I can see it now. Now I've just got to get the hardware side wired up.

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Another question. The only way I can get to my BrewPi page is my typing the IP address (on my LAN) into the browser on the computer that is running BrewPi. I can't get to it from other computers on the network. Any ideas?

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Maybe that is the source of my problems? I guess I'll get a new Arduino and go from there. Thanks.

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

One other question. I have an older Arduino Decimilia board. Will this still work? And which HEX file do I need to use for it?

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

I been working on getting this setup this weekend and I'm running into some problems. I went through the process of installing the legacy branch as described several pages back. Here are my issues: 1. The web interface does not showing that the script is running, but when I check the terminal...

    Oak Barrel Questions

To reduce oxygen permeability you might think about coating all or a portion of the staves with wax. See this link: http://funkfactorybrewing.blogspot.com/2012/02/paraffin-waxing-barrel.html

Keeping a barrel sanatized between fills

I've got a 10 gallons of porter aging in a 10 gallon whiskey barrel and I need to rack it out tomorrow (the flavor of the beer is right where I want it). The problem is that the beer I'm going to be racking into the barrel next won't be ready to go in the barrel for another week. What's the...

    Flanders Red - Solera

We just started a solera in a barrel. 50 gallons were pitched with 1056 (or similar) and 10 gallons were pitched with Roeselare. After primary fermentation (2-4 weeks, depending on when everybody brewed) we racked into the barrel. We wanted to avoid trub in the barrel.

1 2 or 3 tier electric? Talk me out of 3...

One other thing, if you're going 3 tier, think about how high your mash tun will end up being, especially if you want to gravity feed from your boil kettle into the fermenter. I've got a 2.5 gallon system, so i don't need a stool to mash in, but with a 5 gallon system, you may need to.

1 2 or 3 tier electric? Talk me out of 3...

I've got a 3 tier system with an electric HLT. I've got water piped right up to the HLT so I don't have to lift anything. If you want to keep it simple, and you have the vertical room for it (your stand will be tall) 3 tier is the way to go. Plumbing (and also cleaning and sanitation) is also...

Chuckanut Brewery in Bellingham, WA is great. They were last year's GABF small brewpub of the year. Really good german beers. Boundary Bay Brewery is also in Bellingham and has great beers as well.
