Well that was fun, stuck corny keg post

I have had some corny kegs in storage for a few years that were used and I never refurbished them. Tonight I decided to attack one of them but in the end it won. The liquid side post would not budge. I tried everything: cheater bar, impact wrench, heating with a torch and even had my neighbor...

Blichmann Burner heat time - Am I doing it wrong?

I have watched the videos multiple times and do exactly what they show with not much difference in performance. It seems to perform best when the venturi is wide open which gives me no room for adjustment. I don't know if this is normal.

Blichmann Burner heat time - Am I doing it wrong?

Just ran a test with 4.5 gallons of water in a 7 gallon flat bottom kettle and went from 75 degrees to 168 in 30 minutes. That is still way slower than the chart on the blichmann website shows. They take 6.5 gallons to boil in about 25 minutes.

Running a test now with a flat bottom kettle to see if there is a difference. Same amount of water.

Blichmann Burner heat time - Am I doing it wrong?

I have used different bottles with the same results. What are the chances both burners have bad regulators?

Blichmann Burner heat time - Am I doing it wrong?

I have two of the blichmann burners and have been dissappointed with the time it takes to heat up water. I brewed on big brew day and it took well over and hour and a half to get to boil. I thought it might be that burner and regulator so when I got home I fired up my other one and the...

    Cheap WalMart OxyClean

I noticed the same thing. It even leaves a film on the stainless sink in the kitchen. I have used star san to remove it. I leaves the film on bottles even if rinsed quickly after washing. The real oxyclean does not do that with my water. Not sure what the difference is.

Anyone have access to a lathe in the DFW area?

You might try a local wood turners club. I found http://www.dallaswoodturners.com/Home.aspx If you go to the officers there is a phone number for the president. Maybe he can help you find someone near you.

Did I Waste My Money on a Brand New CO2 Tank?

You should also check out fire inspection places that fill fire extinguishers. The one I go to sells C02 tanks for kegs and does refills. They dont do exchanges. I recently had a tank that needed recertification and the owner said they would do it and fill it for a batch of sweet stout.

    Vinyl tubing concerns

I got rid of all my vinyl. Used it for a long time but I always noticed a slight twang. Not sure if it was the tubing but I did the experiment someone on here posted about placing a piece of tubing in boiling water, letting it cool and then tasting the water. It tasted like plastic. Your...

Best way to cut the top off of a keg

When using a cutting wheel/disc always wear a face shield and ear protection. Long sleeves and gloves are highly recommended. I had a disc explode on me once and a piece hit me just below the eye. I don't take chances anymore. I always wear protective equipment while working in my shop. As...

Bayou Classic SQ14 not delivering a rolling boil

I have an SQ14 on my HLT and I found it to be very slow heating also. Some things you can do to improve it is to build a windscreen around it as it loses heat to the sides. Also try cutting a piece of metal or tin and secure it underneath using the screw that holds the burner in place. I...

How to lighten your sanke keggle

I actually tested out washing and cleaning it after I got done and handling it by the lip is not that hard. Even with some water in the bottom the weight I took off from the skirt makes it easier to handle. I have a brew stand where everything is stored on it and I just roll it out the garage...

How to lighten your sanke keggle

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to tell you guys I did this on an AB keg today and it worked great. I used a thin cut off wheel on my 4" grinder. It took 2 wheels and about 30 minutes because I was being very careful. One thing I will mention is to please wear proper safety gear...
