    im wondering that the difference may be temperature. normally i'm on the high side and put fermenter upstairs in my warm bedroom, this recipe recomended cooler fermentation so i have left it downstairs . its currently at 62 on the stick-on thermometer other times its closer to 70 degrees.

    also lately i have been using a cheap aquarium pump and stone to aeriate. last night i had to leave the wort aeriating for about an hour while i prepared the yeast.

    the wort was approximately 74 -76 degrees. the reason im worried is that i have never done a yeast starter and i have always had fermentation by the next morning! ive done about 25 to 30 batches from various kits

    heavy sediment during primary

    yeah i just havent seen this much action before. There is like a current in the middle of the carboy draging large amounts of the sediments up to the top. so far the foam hasnt made it to the airlock but I have dealt with that before just a little messy.
