LD Carlson Easy Clean in Carboy

I was putting the blow of tube and plug into my carboy after pitching and 0.5-1 oz of easy clean solution got sucked into the carboy. I have been told that it is harmless to yeast and I have had this happen before with no ill effect. Has anyone else had this happen and notice ill effects?

    Stone "Go To" IPA

And the hop flavor is vegetal tasting, like it was dry hopped too long. I normally love all their IPAs and was very disappointed by this one.

    Stone "Go To" IPA

Go to ipa is the worst session IPA I have ever had. No body at all.

    What are you drinking now?

I like hopsicle better than moylans DIPA. The hopsicle is a more unique beer. It also has a lot of good hop aroma and flavor yet is sweet and not very bitter. The 10% ABV is masked well in this beer, which makes it dangerously delicious. A little pricey up my way, I think is about 10 or 11...

    What are you drinking now?

Just had a ruination, now into Troegs La Grave, a triple golden ale, 8% abv. Gotta say Troegs nailed this one, I definitely recommend this one if you like Belgian golden ales.

Saison - dry hop or no?

At this point I am leaning towards not dry hopping going with the reasoning that traditionally most of the flavor in a Saison is supposed to come from the yeast. Considering that I added hops at 15 min in the boil I think there will still be enough hop aroma. Also, if I dry hop I will have to...

Saison - Attenuation and Sugar Additions

I did a late sugar addition to a Saison I currently have in primary. Pitched danstar belle saison yeast last Saturday (8 days ago). I added one oz turbinado cane sugar dissolved in 600 ml water on day three after the krausen fell. Total volume of the mixture was about 800 ml. Signs of active...

    Beer made with granola?

I would love to find an all grain recipe for Dogfish Head American Beauty. It is an imperial pale ale brewed with granola. I would love to take a stab at it but I have no idea how much granola I should use.

Saison - dry hop or no?

My bad. My recipe was all grain, 12 lbs belgian pils, 1 lb crystal 20, 1 lb vienna, 1 lb corn sugar three days into ferm. Added 1 oz Styrian Goldings at 60 and one oz East Kent Goldings at 15 min. Considering adding 1-2 oz east kent goldings for dry hop after primary has gone for 14 days...

    Keg aging question

I have a nugget nectar clone in keg right now. I force carbed it about a week ago and it has been sitting in the fridge. Carbonation is good but I think the beer could use a few more weeks aging and I know it will age faster at room temp. Should I just let the keg continue to age in the...

When brewing a Saison, add cane sugar during boil or in secondary?

I am brewing a Saison and the recipe includes one pound of cane sugar. I am thinking that I would like to add the sugar in secondary. My reasoning is that it will help to dry out the saison more because I am going for a very dry saison. I have also heard that adding sugar later allows the...

    Substitute for Caravienne

    Substitute for Caravienne

Hi All, I am going to brew a Saison tomorrow and my fermentables are as follows: 12 lbs Belgian pils, .5 lbs caravienne, 1 lbs cane sugar. Unfortunately, my LHBS was out of caravienne. Therefore, I decided to substitute 0.25 lbs crystal 20 and 0.25 Vienna. Anyone ever tried this? Any...

No hot break :( is it still ok?

Munchkin, have you tried it with cold water in the spray bottle? You also need to make sure it is a spray bottle with a wide spray. They sell good ones in the travel section at Walmart. I still have minor boil overs using the spray bottle sometimes, but I don't have to throttle the heat back...

No hot break :( is it still ok?

Right, but like I said, the hot break is important. That is why I said "regardless of what is actually happening during the hot break it is important to have the hot break". I think that "throttling the heat back" during the hot break is not good because you are not allowing the hot break to...

No hot break :( is it still ok?

Ok, well regardless of what is occurring during the hot break, it is important to have the hot break. Simply google "importance of hot break" and a number of sources will explain why. If you do not have a hot break, you are probably not heating the wort enough.
