I brewed a milk stout on 4/8/12 and I ended up leaving town about three weeks ago without bottling. Is it going to still be OK to bottle. I assume it will but just checking.
I want to convert an extract recipe I came up with to all grain. It is an IPA that used 7lbs of light DME along with 1.75 pounds of crystal 40L for steeping. Is there a general formula for replacing extract with grains?
You are correct. When I looked at the recipe I forgot that I scrapped the 2-row that I was going to do a partial mash with and just used 1.5 lbs of crystal 40L.
Muley IPA
7 lbs light DME
1 lbs Briess Caramel 40L
1 lbs American Two-row Pale
Steep grains for 30 min.
hops
1 oz. Warrior (60 min)
1 oz. Cascade (20 min)
1 oz Chinook (15 min)
1 oz Cascade (5 min)
1 oz Cascade (1 min)
2 oz Cascade (dry hop 14 days)
yeast
White labs American Ale...
I have the braided steel filter. It works great for me (I have only done 3 AG batches). The first time I did an AG batch the braided steel was not secured properly and came off, it was a huge pain in the a$$. If you build it correctly it works great though.
Also I priced it out on NB before I bought the kit. It was about $2 more to buy everything separate.
To the OP like mentioned above you are going to love this one. It was my 8th brew and hands down my best to date. I went with the dry yeast option which I pitched dry and had no issues.

Wow I am pumped about trying this now. I have 10 acres full of mesquite. I can't wait until mesquite bean season! I have been wanting to come up with a beer that was all native to my area. Thanks for the link.
I was told by a family member that a friend of there's was talking about using mesquite pods for brewing. Since I live in the southwest where mesquite is everywhere I am very interested in trying it. Plus I love to BBQ and smoke meat with mesquite. This would be a big hit at BBQ's with friends...
For what its worth, since I'm only on my 8th batch myself, I have poured everything in and strained the wort. The only difference I have found is the amount of trub in the bottom of the fermenter when you go to rack it.
I am contemplating dumping a batch myself. A Scottish ale that turned out horrible. I just can't bring myself to do it. Sorry to here. 11 months is a lot of time to dump it.
