anyone tried brewing with mesquite pods?

I was told by a family member that a friend of there's was talking about using mesquite pods for brewing. Since I live in the southwest where mesquite is everywhere I am very interested in trying it. Plus I love to BBQ and smoke meat with mesquite. This would be a big hit at BBQ's with friends. Anyone tried it or have any info on the technique.

Wow I am pumped about trying this now. I have 10 acres full of mesquite. I can't wait until mesquite bean season! I have been wanting to come up with a beer that was all native to my area. Thanks for the link.
