American Porter Bee Cave Brewery Robust Porter

I've made both this porter and the bourbon vanilla porter that's from this site. I'd recommend this method for the vanilla: Notes: After primary, slit open 2 vanilla beans. Scrape the insides, chop the pods into quarters, add to secondary fermenter, rack beer onto vanilla. Taste periodically...

    Plastic keg

abrew2, did you end up getting and using these? I just acquired a few of these and was debating using as fermenters or just as extra kegs for storage....

American Porter Bee Cave Brewery Robust Porter

So I was on auto-pilot when I brewed this on Sunday and accidentally pitched a whole pound of maltodextrin instead of 8oz. Oops....has anyone else ever done this? Should I expect to basically be drinking a porter milkshake?

Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

I always thought the point of the whirlpool was to limit the amount of material through the chiller. I've watched the video from Tim a few times and I thought you whirlpool for a bit prior to chilling. I don't have a system yet, but that's my take.

Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

Pretzelb - I say keep the updates coming. Your trials are certainly helping others to dial in their systems, and it's all good info to know for when the rest of us pull the trigger on systems of our own. And for those who have already fine-tuned their systems, hopefully they can lend their...

Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

Bummer. What happened!? I brewed a blonde today wishing I had that system already.

Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

Awesome!! Be sure to post pics and keep us updated (mainly to make me jealous and pull the trigger on a system, too).

Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

Great looking system! I hope to order mine within the next month or two. Do those feet screw in to the bottom of the frame so you can adjust for level? Wondering if they can be replaced with casters to easily move the unit when needed...

Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

Here's what Tim from Colorado Brewing Systems sent me when I asked: The frame is 3' 6" wide x 30" deep and stands at 7' tall

Double Batch of IPA and the Freshness Conundrum

I've never done it, but if you always transfer to a serving keg anyway, how about running the 2nd batch through a hop randall? Nice and freshly hopped when you're ready to drink it.

Full Electric Brewing, BIAB system options

So did you end up ordering from Colorado? I just started looking at their system and am tempted to go for it.

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Jalapeno Cream Ale

Assuming you made this already...throw the peppers on in. I didn't have any issue with the seeds in the boil. If you secondary the peppers in glass, you won't need to do anything special as far as cleaning. Just clean as you normally would and you'll be fine. Even with primary fermentation in...

Also, thanks for sharing the recipe! This one is on deck!

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Habanero IPA

True, but a tincture allows you to add heat a bit at a time with quick feedback versus waiting to see how the extra addition in the keg does....at any rate, I am looking forward to trying this recipe and will follow the pepper schedule. I'll just keep the tincture on the side in case it's needed...

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Habanero IPA

Hi all, as far as adding more heat to the beer, why not make a tincture by soaking habs in vodka and adding that in until you have the right heat? I've done that a few times with the jalapeno cream ale and it works great! It also gives you a lot more control too, instead of having to deal with...
