Sold HERMS Electric Brewery Kettles and Components - St. Louis, MO

I am parting with what is left of a 20 Gallon, 3 Kettle HERMS Electric Brewery System. My preference is to sell it all as a complete lot, but am not opposed to parting it out within reason. I do not have the controller, but have everything else. Here is everything that is included (I also...

    Monster Mill or Captain Crush

I do use a drill. I just use my Festool T15+3 drill. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005MYLCSS/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

    Monster Mill or Captain Crush

So I have to say, the Captain Crush is one nice mill! I haven't had a chance to run a full batch of grain through it yet, but ran about a pound through to show my son what it does. I was extremely pleased with the crush. What i love about it most is how easy it is to set the gap...

Funny things you've overheard about beer

Wow. I really like this Budweiser Black Lager. It's like Guiness but not as dark.

    Monster Mill or Captain Crush

Thanks for the feedback. I ended up ordering the Captain Crush. I figure if it sucks, I'll end up going with a MM3 and just put it on my shelf of non-used brewing gadgets. The roller design is just too intriguing not to try.

    Monster Mill or Captain Crush

I'm at my witt's end with my Barley Crusher as it took me 25 minutes to crush 12 lbs of grain last night. I am so sick of the passive roller not catching so I'm ready to move to something new. Right now, I'm thinking of either getting a Monster Mill MM3 2.0 or Northern Brewer's Captain...

Missouri Stainless Steel Drip Trays - Free

I have 2 pretty much unused stainless steel drip trays. All you do is pay shipping and my packaging costs. I bought these and then upgraded to a bigger one for my Keezer before using these. The bigger one has/had some Hard Drive Magnets glued to the back of it. 18" Tray. 6" tray...

Nice work. I love the build and love all the photos. That water table is nuts.

    Bad LHBS experience

They both begin with C so what is the issue? The LHBS i go to for the most part is pretty good without being pretentious.

Thought 3 kegs would be enough

8 kegs here. Right now my limiting factor is keezer size. If I had a bigger one I could easily keep 20 filled.

HVAC - Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning. R-value - To put it in simplified terms, it refers to the efficiency of insulation - the higher the R-Value, the better the insulation. Here is the tape i'm talking about...

I used 4/4 mahogany (3/4" thickness planed) and then insulated with 2" of foam board. To make it look nice inside I used a lot of HVAC foil tape to give it a finished look. Solid wood like cherry has an R-value of about 1.5 to 1.6 per inch. You will probably have an r-value of around r8...

    Temp probe wiring

By the way, here is a link for good quality RTD wiring. http://www.automationdirect.com/adc/Shopping/Catalog/Sensors_-z-_Encoders/Temperature_Sensors_-a-_Transmitters/Thermocouple_-a-_RTD_Extension_Wire/RTD_Wire The only benefit of using RTD wiring over say doorbell wiring is the wire color...

    Temp probe wiring

No issues there as long as you have a well soldered, insulated connection.

I used mahogany on mine. It has darkened up considerably since July. I cannot wait to see that cherry in a year!

I started with 4 taps and added 2 more last week. It's never enough? Did you start with 8/4 cherry or is that 2' 4/4 board to get the thickness? I routed a 7/16" rabbet on the bottom of my collar so it slips on top of the freezer. Nothing is needed to hold it in place.

    LHBS Pricing

I buy all bulk grain from them and items I need in a pinch. However for everything else I buy online. It's not so much price as it is convenience.
