    Krausen Disturbed

I have had a SN Pale Ale Clone brewing for a week and a half. I was forced to move my fridge and the krausen was mixed into the brew. Will I have any off tastes in the brew? Will it now be extremley bitter?

    Dedicated Lagering Fridge?

So I have only brewed two homebrews, and I am reading how to lager. After primary fermentation of a lager, I have read that you "lager" the lager by dropping the temp into the 30's. So to keep a pipeline going, do you have a dedicated fridge to lager? Which would mean for some people 3 fridges...

    2nd Homebrew Cologne Kolsch Temps

So this is my second homebrew and it is the extract from Midwest. Brewed it Sunday, and I have it in the fridge at 60F. I have been reading about how to handle this beer after the primary. It seems that after the primary, it should be lagered for around 4 weeks. I have never done a lager, so...

First beer may still be green.

So I bottled my first homebrew in tap a draft bottles a week and half ago. One of the bottles seemed to be carbed since I was not able to push in the sides of the bottle, so I decided to tap it and try it out. After trying it, it seems like a good light beer but there is slight aftertaste that...

Not happy with Island Mist Green Apple Riseling

So It is time to bottle this kit and tried a sample today. I was not happy with the results. It was not sweet as so many people says it is supposed to be, and the alcohol dominates the drink. It leaves what I call a "harsh" alcohol tastes in mouth after I drink it. I did raise the alcohol in the...

    Ale Fermentation Temp

So when I attach the temp probe to the fermentation bucket. Do I want the set temperature to be 62F or around 58F to compensate for the higher fermentation temp? In other words does the wort need to be at 62F or does the outside of the bucket need to be at 62F?

    Fermenation time in the Fridge

I have a small mini fridge that can only hold one fermenter. I am going to buy a controller for it next time I make an order. I will be brewing all ales. To keep my pipline moving faster, can I ferment for one week in the fridge and then move it out of the fridge into my 72 degree house? Would...

Skeeter Pee with 4 different flavors.

I am new to wine making and I have not even bottled any of the batches I have made so far, but I had to try my hand at skeeter pee. Here is what I have done so far. Can't wait to try these. I used the yeast cake from a green apple reisling kit which used puree cuvee. I have not seen many posts...

    Help with first brew.

This is an Aussie Light Ale Kit from Midwest and my first brew. I followed the directions except I added a pound of honey and irish moss during the last 15 mins of the boil. I put in a plastic primary and it fermented for 10 days. I then racked into a 5-gallon carboy. It smelled great when I...

Campden tablets changed color of my wine...

This is a 3 gallon batch of muscadine wine and it just finished secondary fermentation. So it was time to add the 1 and 1/2 tsp of sorbate and the 3 campden tablets while de-gassing. I wanted a blush wine, so I let the pulp sit in the must for under 2 days. The color was in between pink and red...

Help with SG reading for a Island Mist Kit

This is my first Island Mist Kit, Green Apple Riseling. My intial SG, after adding extra sugar, was 1.080. It fermented down to 0.985. I added the k-meta and sorbate. Degassed and added F-pack followed by Isinglass. The kit instructions say the SG after adding the F-pack should be 1.010-1.018...

    Question about my First Homebrew

I have made a few batches of wine before, and today was my first attempt at homebrewing. I bought the Aussie Light Ale with the Wyest starter from Midwest. I followed the directions exactly except for the 1lb honey and the moss for clarifing I added at the end of the boil. I am concerned...

Help with testing for acid in muscadine must.

This is the first time that I have tried to use an acid titration kit. It has the sodium hydroxide and phenolphaliene. The directions say to take 15 cc of must and 3 drops of phenolphaliene and mix well. Take 10 cc of sodium hydroxide and slowly add and stir until the color does not change...

    Cheesecloth vs Nylon Bag

I am newb and I did search for this but did not find anything. Everything I have read on the internet says to use nylon bags for putting pulp in while using the Primary. Will cheescloth work just as good? Thanks ahead of time
