Fermenting in a corny - problems?

I getting ready to start fermenting in a corny and I wanted to see what problems, if any, everyone has had out there. I hate using my glass carboy mainly cause I'm paranoid I'm gonna drop the damn thing. So when I heard about fermenting in a corny, seemed like a great idea. Comments?

What's the cheapest method of kegging?

I've been bottling for years now, but I just picked up 3 corny kegs for next to nothing. What's the cheapest way to get started with kegs? No matter where I look, it's going to cost a minimum of $150 for a gauge, tank, lines, etc. What about the CO2 cartridges I've seen? I know they are used...

To build or not to build, that is the question..

I'm on the fence about this and I wanted some opinions. I'm debating whether I should build a fermentation chamber, like Son of Fermentation Chamber, or just simply get a frig and a controller. One question I have is what about storing cornys and fermenters together - what are the drawbacks?

    Temp control with heatstick?

I'm thinking about building a heatstick to use for heating water for my mash tun. Has anyone ever found a way to control the temperature with the heatstick with some kind of thermostat? My general idea was to use some type of water heater thermostat.

Book about the types of beer

Can anyone recommend a good book that gives a good account of the various types, styles, etc. of beer. I know, I know, you could fill a library with that info, but I'd like something that can fill in the gaps about what the different types are and how they came about.

    Just finished 1st AG!

Finished my first AG and everything went pretty good (brewed a Hefeweizen). I definitely learned A TON! I've been brewing extracts for the past several years and a couple of buddies of mine convinced me to move to AG. The two biggest problems I had was: 1. Getting the mash to the right...

How do I test my water?

Any ideas on how to test the water that I'm brewing with? It's well water that hasn't been treated with anything, but we drink it all the time (and so do a bunch of dogs, cattle and horses). I just need to find out what minerals are in it so I can make adjustments, if necessary. Thanks for...
