    Columbus and Citra togetherness?

    I have 2 oz Columbus pellet and 1oz Citra leaf to add to 4 gal of Amber wort that sits at about 1.065 go. Any suggestions? Add more? Will these 2 Hop styles be weird together? Suggestions please........Thanks in advance:fro:

    residual sweetness in fermented beer

    Hey gang, I am getting some sweetness in my beer after I keg and carbonate. It tastes good, but when I have a commercial beer I don't get that "sweet" taste in most of them. Is it that my mash temp is too low? Yeast not working enough?? Any thoughts?? Thanks in advance! DSMbrewer :mug:

    lager yeast for ale temps

    I am wanting to do an Oktoberfest/Marzen style of beer, but don't have a way to control ferment temp below 60* F. Any suggestions for lager yeast that will do OK in the 65-68* range. Maybe an ale yeast that will bring out the malty side of a Marzen? Any help would be appreciated! :ban:

    soapy taste in IPA

    What can cause soapy flavor in an IPA? I have a double IPA that is good with the exception of the soapy flavor (which is not very pronounced btw, but I can tell it's there). Any comments on how to correct would be appreciated~!

    Missing gravity target by .015......

    I am having trouble hitting my gravity with my system. It seems as if I am getting more grain absorption in the mash than Beer Smith tells me I should. I do 5 gal batches with a cooler for a mash tun and batch sparge. Last batch had 6lbs 2 row, 6 lbs wheat malt, 2 lbs pilsner malt, and 1 lb...

    Batch Sparge vs. Fly Sparge??

    I am curious about efficiency in batch sparge rigs vs Fly sparge rigs...My target OG seems to be a little off every time I brew, and I have been careful to watch my water volume, mash temp, and mash time. Would fly sparging help my effeciency? Should I add another pound of grain to each batch...

    Filter out Hops or not??

    Anyone have an opinion on removing hops from wort before fermentation begins? Do it or not? I seem to be loosing a lot of liquid to my trub when I leave hops in the primary ferment. Trub is THICK and takes up, what looks like, about 1/2 gallon of space after all is fermented. Your thoughts.....

    OxiClean vs. One Step

    Anyone have an opinion (far be it from anyone here to have an opinion) about the pro's and con's of Oxi Clean vs. One Step? I am using One Step for cleaning and star san to sanatize and wondered if One Step could be replaced by oxiclean with the same results (my results have been good btw)...

    30 minute hop additions??

    Hey gang, Any opinions on 30 minute hop additions? I don't seem to be getting a benefit in my beer from them. Seems like it add a tictch of bitterness and that's about it...I have seen better utilization from 90,60,15 minute additions.....your thoughts??

    new to kegging

    I hooked up my CO2 to my first keg last night. I set the pressure to 30 psi to initially carb the keg and am going to back the pressure off tonight to 10 psi and let sit for a few days before I pull my first beer. Do I need to manually back the pressure down to 10 or will the regulator do that...

    Good Head, No retention
