    Bottle Conditioning Oktoberfest

Just bottled my Oktoberfest after 2 months lagering. Lagered at about 38F. What temp should I bottle condition at? For the last week before bottling I accidentaly left the fridge door cracked open so it was at 55-60F in the secondary when I bottled it today. Thanks all.

    FOrce Carbonation

Hey all. I know a few people who keg and they are always saying its great because the beer is ready to drink so much faster. Wouldent you still have to let it "age" in the bottle to round out the flavor? Ive had some problems with "green" tasting beer and it seems like it takes a good 2-3...

    Anyone ever use a Fermentap?

I saw a Fermentap system at morebeer. It inverts your carboy into a conical fermentor and seems cool for harvesting yeast and not transferring from primary to secondary. Only drawback it seems is that your suppossed to empty the sediment every 3 or 4 days.... yeah thats gonna happen. Any...

    Anyone use a decoction mash?

Hey all. Im a new all grain brewer and was thinking of using a decoction mash because I love malty beer. Also I have a smaller pot and this would allow multiple rests without adding a ton of water. Anyone have experience with this and does it help flavor a lot?

Extract vs All grain (green empty tasting beer)

Hey all, Ive done about 6 batches, all extract. My problem is thatmy beer always tastes green/lifeless/thin... Is this an issue of bottle conditioning time(I usually condition between 2 weeks and 2 months)? Do the extracts have more complex sugars that take longer to break down? Or should I...

So I am brewing my first lager tomorrow. When I make the strter for the yeast do I want it at fermentation temperature (45-50 degrees). And with that cool the wort down to 45-50 degrees as well, then pitch? Or do I keep the starter at room temp, pitch yeast into room temp wort, and then cool...
