Glass carboy bottom falls off. Beer everywhere.

So I was out to lunch when I see a text from my wife saying my beer leaked everywhere. I'm thinking the keg leaked and I've lost the rest of my DIPA. I come home to find out the Belgian Tripel that had been sitting in secondary for 7 weeks is the one that leaked everywhere. So the bottom of...

How quick will this strawberry/ bubblegum flavor go away?

Just want a quick opinion. I brewed an extract hop head IPA from Midwest. Second time I have done this. Went very well the first time. I fermented for 16 days in temp controlled freezer. All was good. I kegged it and let it sit in the keg for two weeks. It started getting above 75 in my house...

    Hoppy Wheat

    Kegged before fermentation was done

Well...My first two all grain beers have been messed up by mistakes with the yeast. I have ordered a hydrometer. I didn't have it for this brew. I made a belgian wit and kegged it after ten days when the bubbles stopped. However, after sampling in the keg the beer smelled and tasted pretty bad...

    First Pilsner Brew

Well, I brewed the pilsner a week ago. Did all grain. Since I racked it to a five gallon carboy I used a blow off just in case. It has been sitting at about 48 degrees consistently. I haven't seen any activity and it doesn't look like any fermentation has taken place. Nothing caked on the sides...

Using bag for grain in mash tun

I am assuming there is a good reason for not doing this, but I haven't read anything about it yet. I am doing my first AG tomorrow. I have read that a stuck sparge can be an annoyance. Is it okay to throw all the grain in a big muslin bag to avoid this or will that decrease the extraction from...

Brew Day Ruined by Wort Chiller

Oh man…has this happened to anyone? I was brewing a strawberry blonde today and when it was time to chill the beer I hooked the wort chiller up to the outside faucet and started chilling. After a minute a leak started in the chiller right where the tube meets the copper. This is only the 3rd...

Juicing the fruit for strawberry beer

I am planning to brew the succulent strawberry blonde this week. I thought I would juice the strawberries. 2 questions - should I still use all eight lbs of strawberries? Also...I have heard when you juice fruit it immediately oxidizes...should I worry about this affecting the beer? Thanks...
