    Recipe? My ingredients.

Hi, i’m about to make mead for the first time. My wife bought her mother some honey and yeast. Her mother used to make a much larger batch, so I was wondering if anyone had a recipe for 3 pounds of honey and a 5 g packet of Lalvin yeast.

    Peach ipa recipe

I am wanting to make a peach IPA. I was wondering if anyone had a fairly simple recipe for beginners that doesn’t involve racking to a secondary.

    Gravity readings

I did an og reading and marked it, but doing my final reading less than a month and a half later it reads the same. I also noticed this time that the hydrometer is basically sitting on the bottom. Does that mean I didn’t add enough beer for the readings? Everything should be fine after the...

    Starting gravity

I had a starting gravity of about 1.100. The recipe suggested 1.068. What could I have done to get it closer to 1.068 at that point? Also, does being at .100 as opposed to .068 mean it will be stronger ABV?

    Yeast & cooling

I’ve been cooling my wert for about an hour and a half. Still not cool to the touch, not super hot, but warm. I’m good on waiting longer, correct? Better to be cool then going in hot? Also, this is my first time using the white labs pure yeast pure pitch. I’m close to using it and the...

    Hop Schedule

I’m brewing an IPA with three hops on the hopping schedule. The first two are in pellet form & the last is a leaf. The leaf and one other go in at 5 minutes to finish. I wanted to make sure I did the next step correct. Should I strain the wert before putting it into the carboy, like I usually...

Stuff at the bottom of the bottle

My ipa beer should be ready in a week and a half but am noticing they have a white base at the bottom of the bottles. Is this normal?

    Places to get caps

Besides the brew supply store. Do any major retailers sell them?

    Caps

My caps have some rust on them, is there a way to still use them? Maybe sterilizing them with five star pbw or iodophor sanitizer? Another question, Where can I get caps besides my brew supply store? It's a far drive and bottling today, trying to avoid having to go there.

    Bottling IPA Today

I brewed 39 days ago on Memorial day and plan to bottle my IPA today. The pictures below are my carboys with the hops in them. The stopper is 0 bubbles a minutes. I forgot to take an og. Based on all of this I just wanted to make sure I'm not bottling to early and that from the pictures...

    Airlock Liquid

Can you put too much water in the airlock? I put too much and it doesn't bubble, if I just take out some of the water with a straw will it have been affected?

    IPA Yeast

I used yeast 1056 american ale for my Imperial IPA and then realized I had an additional Safale US-05 packet. I had help when buying the ingredients, but don't know if I accidentally bought extra or screwed up by not adding the second yeast. Whats the best option if I brewed the beer 3 days ago?

    3 Hours for yeast

I prepared my wort and beer and was to the point of pitching the yeast when I realized I hadn't broken the package yet and it needs to set for 3 hours. Is it okay to have the beer cooling in my large pot for 3 hours, and then re-heating it to 70 degrees around 3 hours and adding the yeast?

    Carboy splitting

Will it mess up a brew if I split between two glass carboys? I have the beginner bucket which I used once and it worked (maybe 6 gallons?) But last time I used a glass carboy that was 5 gallons and it erupted. Will it mess up the fermentation if I split 1 brew between two glass carboys?

    Ferementing time

Can you ferment in original carboy for too long? Tomorrow will be five weeks.

    Hydrometer Question

I haven't used my hydrometer in about 11 months and can't remember if this is what it looked like when I stored it. I read that people go through them quite often so I wanted you guys to take a look and make sure it seems ok to use and won't infect my brew. The line at the bottom is green, when...

    Did some steps wrong

I'm brewing a Belgian Blond and an Irish Red Ale at the same time. They've been fermenting for two weeks. I don't know what I was thinking, but read my directions wrong and added the priming sugar while preparing the wort, and am now just realizing it. I did it for both brews. Does that mean...

    Carboy Problem Bubbles (picture)

This is my second brew ever in a year, 1st in a carboy. I did all the steps and started the fermentation today. When I came home after about 5 hours it looked like this. Is there anything I can do to salvage it? Is this normal, what did I do wrong?

    Racking equipment question

I'm preparing to sanitize and rack from my fermenter to my bottling bucket, but was wondering what the left piece of equipment is used for in the picture. My racking cane and siphon are together in the auto-siphon and I have tubing. I tried looking up some videos but can't see exactly what I...

    Getting my bottles ready

I am bottling tonight and wanted to make sure I'm not going to get anything infected. I ran the bottles under 120 degree water from my faucet, they're soaking now, and plan on running them through the dishwasher soon. Is that enough? Or should I rotate the bottles in a sink filled with...
