Austin Homebrew Supply Greenbelt v. WLP001 - The experiment begins...

Curious to hear what you think of the comparison. My experience is that I recently bumped up the Lake Walk Pale Ale recipe to an IPA and used Greenbelt yeast. I am not happy with the beer at all, getting that oniony flavor you sometimes get with Summit (used Simcoe/Amarillo) Would like to hear...

Orange zest in an American Wheat

I've used lemon zest in an American Wheat of my own design. Gives it a good lemon taste and is nice on a hot day. Was thinking about trying orange zest in the same recipe

    Replacing beer line

I just put new beer line on a triple tower I bought. I took the brass nuts off using a pair of slip joint pliers

    critique my recipe

Pretty neutral taste imo, left a cloudier beer than I expected having read details on the yeast but it worked well. I don't plan on changing the yeast next time I brew it

Found: 32qt Brew pot 19.99 Free shipping!

I have looked at Tamale steamers before thinking about homebrew use and they have always seemed very light to me. Lighter than the budget 40qt kettle I got from Austin Homebrew. I would be worried about them standing up to use on a propane burner

American Pale Ale Lake Walk Pale Ale

Brewed this up a couple weeks ago as my 1st all grain (after years of mini-mash). Excellent beer, great grapefruit aroma and taste. I may try a little biscuit next time since I'm not really picking up on any toasted taste Great beer!!

Why are my refractometer and hydrometer so far off?

very interesting, thanks guys! I thought that Beersmith might have the correction chart but if I'm reading it right it is using a refractometer for OG and a hydrometer for FG

Why are my refractometer and hydrometer so far off?

Just taking FG readings on my pale ale. My hydrometer is reading about 1.004 (temp corrected to 1.005) and my refractometer is reading 1.019. The hydrometer is reading about .003 low when tested in distilled water but thats still leaving me a spread of .01? :(
