Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

Up until about a year ago it was known thgat WLP007 was used. They updated their fermentation profile ("yeast and secrets" according to JC). So the WLP007 may or may not be used for their core rotational beers. Their island/lighthouse beers are not using WLP007 becuase they were born out of the...

Other Half Daydream (oat cream IPAs) - all grain clone attempts

other half has said in their IG posts in the past "fermented with vermont yeast" for their daydreams and other hazy IPAs. Idk if this is what they still use or not, but when I used the vermont yeast (conan, any type of it) it was the closest I could get to their flavor. Mind you, it was my first...

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

When it comes to the biotransformation hops I've had better results doing day 4 or 5 (day 3 only if the fermentation REALLY took off and is ahead of schedule) when doing a single dry hop. There is less yeast in suspension to bind hop oils and such that will just drop them out and there is less...

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

@NJGeorge what does your process look like outside of rehydration, aeration, and the pitching rate? What kind of yeast nutrient and how much? Grain bill? Fermentation temperatures and timelines?

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

I believe @robopp said he has had the best results when skipping aeration AND yeast nutrient. Yeast nutrient can influence different enzymatic pathways that ultimately lead to different end products of esters, sulfurs, phenols etc (http://scottjanish.com/esters-and-fusel-alcohols/). Maybe yeast...

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

I'm all about supporting your local LHBS, but I may start sourcing my hops through YVH. You two are among many other great reviews I've heard. The flavor and bitterness has been approving over the last few days. Hopefully it should be good in a week or so.

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

One of TH curiosity beers was with simcoe and galaxy. The description said it is a combination of hops they don't normally like or use together, but the curiosity beer turned out great. I can't remember which curiosity it was. Yeah especially for the AU hops. I've never had great luck with the...

where did you see that?! I figured galaxy and amarillo would be in it for sure, but I find the simcoe surprising.

I always picture Julius at being more Citra forward with a strong amarillo backbone. Maybe Haze is the other way around. Honestly, we may never know haha. I love azacca and haven't brewed with it in a long time... I plan on bringing it back.

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

Yeah def bitter with warrior extract. Amarillo is said to impart peach like flavors so maybe load up on that and come citra. As for the yeast it is probably safe to assume that its the same yeast profile used in the other beers, but that peachiness makes me second guess that statement.

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

Do you guys think it's safe to assume the Tree House's 'Bright' series are fermented with US05? While we're on the subject of chico and american ale yeasts.

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

Yeah I think its the yeast character, but just personal preference. HF undoubtedly has their own signature flavor. For whatever reason, I think I like tree house more! Imperial just released Bell's house yeast and I'm dying to get my hands on it. It's great that Bell's partnered with them to do...

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

I went to HF for the first time last week on Thursday. I had Susan, Double Citra, Society and Solitude, (the galaxy/citra and the mosaic), edward, and what is enlightenment. It was my first time visiting and first time really getting to experience their beer that fresh. I must say my first...

My palate has similar sentiments on this. I love Tree House beers fresh ... BUT ... after a week or two is when they really shine for me.

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

ahhh London Ale III .... never saw it abbreviated that way. Interesting how they're saying "two" strains. I've been using A38 Juice for my NEIPAs and soft and juicy is the best way to describe it. Its crazy. I find that Juice is little more orange estery than London III although they say...

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

https://www.treehousebrew.com/on-tap "For this curious exploration into the art and science of hoppy beers, we blended two different yeast strains - a classically soft and fruity english ale strain, and our house yeast strain - in an attempt to take our well established flavor profiles to new...

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

Robopp said he has been having great results by not aerating the wort beforehand. I believe there are others that report having decent results as well. I myself didn't have great results on the one attempt I did... my scale wasn't sensitive enough to weight out the correct ratios so it came out...
