What is the downside to over pitching?

Ah yes. I remember that thread but back when I read it I was more of a newb and didn't understand all of it. (* I wonder why it didn't come up in my searches today! - I say make it a sticky) But that is very helpful. Thanks. I'll continue reading that thread to see if I can get more info. I...

Reusing a yeast cake this weekend - wash, or don't bother?

I would at least put some in a jar and let it sit in the fridge and then decant the beer off of the top.

What is the downside to over pitching?

I see where people reuse the cake all the time. I like to at least split the left over yeast and wash at least once. Once it sits in the fridge for a while I always have a small level of creamy looking yeast and about 10 times of other stuff below that. I just pitched around 500ml of slurry...

    Georgia roll call

I work close to BrewMasters Warehouse but still order over the internet. It's so easy and cheap. $6.99 shipping isn't worth my time to stop by. It may be me being lazy but it's well worth it. I have always got my orders by next day too. It's crazy.

    American IPA Stone Ruination Clone

I'm wanting to make a Black IIPA. Would I add a pound of black malt or what? Is 1 LB too much? I've brewed this recipe three times. I add another pound of 2 row just to make sure I hit my numbers. Does this sound interesting to anyone?

Blonde Ale Miller Lite (Really Triple Hopped)

I've brewed 20 batches of this and it's my everyday drinker. The last 11 gal batch I brewed has been in the primary for 7 days today and the airlocks are still bubbling away like three blurps a minute. I have not measured gravity yet but want to rack to secondary today and use the yeast for a...

Wash Yeast with Bottled Spring Water?

I have not done it but have read where others have. I think the water just has to be sterile. Is bottled water sterile?

    How to mix priming sugar??

I stir. My first few batches were carbonated unevenly. My one and only bottle bomb came from batch #1. Some bottles were very under carbonated. I just give it a few slow stirs to make sure it's all distributed evenly. If anything I think my light ale is under carbonated using recommended...

    Beer Snob top beer?

What's better PTE or Stone's Ruination ?? Here Ruination is $17.50 a six pack. For that money it's got to be good!! :cross: I haven't bought Ruination since it was $14 then I started making my own which I think is better.

Blonde Ale Miller Lite (Really Triple Hopped)

To me this is 100 times better than Miller Lite which used to be my lawnmower beer. :mug:

Blonde Ale Miller Lite (Really Triple Hopped)

It should work out fine. It's a small grain bill and easy for BIAB. I do BIAB in a 15.5 gal kettle. It seems I need to mash longer to hit my numbers but it works fine. Sometimes I mash for 2 hours or more. Does anyone know the downsides of mashing so long? So far the beer has been great.

Blonde Ale Miller Lite (Really Triple Hopped)

I do BAIB in a 15.5 Gal Kettle. It seems to boil off about 2 gal in 90 mins so I think I can do it.

Blonde Ale Miller Lite (Really Triple Hopped)

Oh and cold conditioning makes a huge difference. Don't forget to do that.

Blonde Ale Miller Lite (Really Triple Hopped)

I love this recipe and have brewed it 16 times now. I love it. It's my every day all day drinker. I recently upped the amount of ingredients to make sure I got my 5 GAL of beer on bottling day. I changed it to: 2.5# 2-row 2# 6-row 2# corn This totally allowed me to start with ~5.5 to 6...

    Starter or dirct pitch?

If I look at Mr Malty I pitched at least 4 times what I should have. Oh well. I made it through the night btw. I stuck my bottling hose over the tube to make a blow off and its still bubbling constantly. I'm glad it didn't clog.

    Starter or dirct pitch?

Okay wow. After cleaning for the 4th time I'm wishing I had a blow off tube. Hopefully I can make it through the night. *note to self: Don't pitch that much yeast anymore.

    Starter or dirct pitch?

So be careful. These guys are right. One of those is probably enough or too much. I combined the two smallest jars I had in this picture and this morning my bucket airlock was overflowing and the lid was about to blow off. I cleaned everything back up and it's bubbling away. I'll continue to...
