    Oak cubes in my RIS

I was at the LHBS and I bought some oak cubes, the package says minimum contact time is 8 weeks. Has anyone used these and what kind of results did you get? If it helps I'm going to put it in a big RIS to give out at xmas. Has anyone soaked them in bourbon and how did you sanitize them?

AG equipment (because I just can't search that well)

The trick is to buy gear that you can grow into. I would start by buying a 15.5 keggle. The bottom of the keg is domed which is not good, but the 15.5 volume will let you brew 10 gallon batches down the road. A 10 gallon gott water cooler with a false bottom makes a good MLT, will let you do...

Is it too late to aerate

Ok thanks, I was a little worried. When is it ok to crack open some cold ones during the brewing process? I started right away and it took me about 6 two hearteds until I finished brewing.

Is it too late to aerate

I brewed a batch of IIPA and saturday and didn't aerate the wort before pitch because I was tired and maybe a little buzzed. The wort did pour form the spout down into the bucket, so there was some aeration. The starting O.G. was 1.084. Should I open it back up and stir it up? Should I repitch?

    Using preserves in beer

I want to make a stout using thimbleberries from the U.P., but I can't get anyone to ship me some berries but I can buy preserves or jam. Can I just pour some jam into the brew kettle on brew day?

    Dry Hopping and bottle aging

I recently made a red ale for a 4th of july camping trip and was thinking about putting a hop in each bottle. Then I could dry hop half the batch. I would normally rack half the batch and dry hop that but my other secondary is full. So my question is can I dry hop and bottle condition at the...

    Flame color

Thanks, It was blue, its just hard to see. It got cloudy some and then I could tell. Did run out of gas, right at the start of the boil. That really stunk because I had to steal the tank from the BBQ, and was planning on grilling some burgers up during the boil. I was starving, I was...

    First RIS brew

Brew day was Sat. It was my only second all grain brew, and my first by myself. I did get rid of the 120L and mix in some other malts. There was some techincal difficulties. I didn't really take in to considerations the amount of grains and the size of my cooler. I have a 10 gallon Gott, so...

    Flame color

I'm brewing my second all grain batch tommorrow. I was wondering what color the flame should be for the best efficiency of fuel. The first batch the flame was almost invisible. Should I try to adjust the choke?
