I'm down just Charlotte. Make it up to Grand Ledge to go to The Red Salamander every couple of weeks or so. I'd be up to a meet in Lansing.

    One child

We have one, we wanted two, but getting the first was difficult and the second turned out to be impossible. She's nearly 13 yrs old now. I'm glad we only have the one. With all of the expenses of one, having another would make things difficult. The amount of running around that we do now is...

    Greetings from Kalamazoo, MI

Welcome from Battle Creek. Well, I still work in Battle Creek but now I live in Springport. No, actually that's just my postal address, the house is really in Clarence Township. Oh, well, welcome from the North-East corner of Calhoun County! All grain. Used to get supplies from Bell's in...

    Slivers (or splinters)

Ever hear the saying, "But wait! There's more!" ? Well there was, this is what she pulled out the next day. The bottom piece. Immediately after, she was able to jump and dance around. Can't imagine why it hurt so much....

    Slivers (or splinters)

    Resistance is Futile!

350, 345, 270, 345, 340, 270 is correct. 'Each leg' refers to each LED/resistor combo. You know the current flowing through each leg. 20mA. Since you also know the voltage drop over each LED, i.e. 2.0V for the first one, you know the voltage across each resistor, i.e. 9V-2V = 7V Ohm's law...

    Hey Parents!... Version 3.0 *Longwinded*

Yeah, it's bad enough when they ask all sorts of personal questions after the kid is born, but what really got me was how people would just come up and start touching my wife's belly when she was pregnant. Doesn't matter if we knew them or not. Then the questions...

Is all grain is that much better or is it just that you have become a better brewer?

I started with an extract kit. The results were meh. I started doing extract and extract with steeping grains with individually purchased ingredients and noticed a big difference. My beers got much better. Some of the best I've made. I switched to all grain and it took a while before I was...

    A first

Have you taken a hydrometer reading. That is the only real way to tell for sure whether it is ready for bottling. If the reading is stable and near your expected final gravity for a few days, it is ready.
