Single Infusion Mash Tun from Midwest Supplies

Go with your own build. It honestly doesnt take any time, maybe 15 minutes. It will be at least half the cost. There are many posts and blogs telling you how to build it. I prefer to use a 48 qt Igloo style ice cooler and a CPVC manifold. You can print out a parts list and go to Home Depot and...

Advice for a Yeast Strain for my English Barleywine

Hello I am trying to find a yeast strain for my English Barleywine. I am expecting an ABV of 12%. Most yeasts I see are rated for ABV of 10% or less. I wanted to use Wyeast London Ale III, but it is up to 10% alcohol tolerance. I see they are coming out with Rogues Pacman ale which is up...

    Where to Find British Hops?

Rebelbrewer is sold out on Phoenix. I went to the major online guys first. Looked at Hopsdirect, but farmhouse seems to have best variety. Besides the Noble, imported hops are tough to come by. American hops are not too bad, unless you are looking for Citra.

    Beer not carbing

Thanks Revvy. This is my first BIG beer. My other brews were average strength and I kept them inside and they carb up in 2-3 weeks. I was almost planning to open them all up and dump them into a corny and force carb. But I really want to bottle condition this beer. Yes, patience is a...

    Beer not carbing

I bottled my dark Belgian trippel about 4 weeks ago. I used corn sugar 3/4 cup for 5 gallons, my usual amount. After bottling the beer, I stored it in my garage. I live in Florida so it's not too cold, but we have been mostly in the 60's so the temp in my garage is in the high 60's and some...

High krausen and blow off issue

Well tonight I may be sleeping in the closet with my fermentor. Would it be a bad idea to tell her I would prefer the soothing sound of my bubbling airlock over her snoring?

Do you include rice hulls in grain bill when calculating strike water?

Thanks I added about 1/2 gallon of water and yes it did affect my strike temp. I was off by 2 degrees, so I had to add some boiling water to get it to 151.

Do you include rice hulls in grain bill when calculating strike water?

Help. Brewing a wheat beer and about to heat up my strike water, however I am unsure if I include the rice hulls when calculating my strike water volume. I didn't think about it as they do not mash into anything and just prevent a stuck sparge. But then I was thinking that they will absorb...

What do you think of my wheat beer recipe?

I am looking for a spicy tart flavor. The rye and blueberry should be great. Simcoe and Cascade will bring a hint of citrus bitter. Kind of looking for a unique flavored blueberry wheat. I like to experiment. Whats the worst that could happen?

What do you think of my wheat beer recipe?

I am still unable to actually import the recipe from my BeerAlchemy program, so I will give you the highlights. Any input will help. This is for a 5 gallon, AG batch. My rig runs between 65-70% efficiency. 5 pounds Pils malt 6 pounds Wheat Malt 1 pound Rye Malt Mash is a single...

    Ever Wanted to.......

Bryan H St Petersburg, Fl When chilling wort with an immersion chiller, use a recirulating ice bath. Go to the local hardware store and purchase a cheap immersible pond pump (about 20 dollars). You can place the pump into a bucket of ice water, then pump the ice water through the wort...
