    Crazy yeast bag idea?

I'm making a single vessel system (BIAB) and was also hoping on fermenting in the same vessel until I just read about sludge that builds up in the bottom of the fermenter. I've never actually brewed beer before but I work at a place that makes craft brewing systems. Since I'm doing BIAB I don't...

Started my single vessel brewing system

Ya I'm probably going to have to use multiple bags since it's 36 gallons

Started my single vessel brewing system

Started making my single vessel stainless brewing system. I only have one pic so far but I'll be adding more as I go. It may look a little funny with the flat bar rolled around the edges but that's for the outer cladding to go on for the insulation to go in between.

    Thermowell or thermometer?

Should I weld a thermowell in or a thermometer? I make and weld thermowells in fermenters all the time but those are for craft breweries from 5-200bbl so I'm not sure what to do

Single vessel brewing. Anything I'm missing?

Awesome! Thanks so much for the help! If there's anything else that you can think of that I'm forgetting about please let me know. Thanks again

Single vessel brewing. Anything I'm missing?

Hmm I'm not too worried about tying up the kettle since 36 gallons should last me a while but it looks like I'll be making a bolt on lid with a gasket. Thanks!

Single vessel brewing. Anything I'm missing?

The reason I don't want to do a MLT is 1. I don't have room (basement suite), 2. Cost. 3. The possibility of making something different that I could maybe mass produce for easy home brewing (not the biggest of my priorities.. Just a thought)

Single vessel brewing. Anything I'm missing?

I actually was planning on open fermentation or I could just just make a gasket out of the "rubber" material we have at work (actually used to make gaskets) l. Then I could make it so the lid bolts onto the top of the tank with a PRVB on top. I've never heard about not fermenting in the kettle...

Single vessel brewing. Anything I'm missing?

It can't be THAT heavy. 36 gallons is the total size of the pot.. I'll probably get about 20 out of it.. I think

Single vessel brewing. Anything I'm missing?

Haha! Ya I could if I find a mesh bag big enough to justify making that.. Otherwise multiple bags will have to do.. Or a basket with holes small enough to strain.. I make the false bottoms for the 5-30 bbl craft breweries so making a basket shouldn't be too hard

Single vessel brewing. Anything I'm missing?

Well I'm not sure about the bag yet but if I have to ill use multiple bags. As for other parts I work at a company that makes craft brewing systems so I have all the fittings (tri-clamps, DINs etc..). So far all I have done is rolled a sheet of 12 gauge stainless (22" tall x 22" OD diameter) and...

Single vessel brewing. Anything I'm missing?

I'm fabricating a 36 gallon pot to do BIAB in. I will be using a 60,000 btu burner and insulating/cladding the sides of the pot. I will also fabricate my own immersion chiller and my own loose fitting lid for fermenting in the same pot. Is there anything I'm missing or should know about before I...

Should I go electric or propane?

I'm making a 36 gallon pot to use for BIAB and I'm insulating and cladding it. I don't have good access to a 220v outlet because I rent a basement suite so I'm just wondering if a 110v element or two of them would be enough to bring at most 30 gallons to a boil in an appropriate amount of time...

    Tubular Ring burner

Anyone know of any good tubular ring burners? I'm making a 36 gallon pot that drains out from the centre and can't use a regular burner cause it will scorch the wort in the drain pipe.. I'm looking for something around 10"-15" dia. I thought about making my own but everyone says it's hard to...

    Fabricating a burner

Did he mention how well it worked? We're the holes too big? I was just going to roll a piece of 1" sch. 10 ss tubing into a circle then add a tee to connect the ends and have an inlet

    Fabricating a burner

Thanks! Ya I was thinking either little holes in the pipe itself or using little sprayers that we use on the sparge ring

    Fabricating a burner

I work as a welder/fabricator of craft brewing systems and am currently building a 22" x 22" tank for my own home brewing. I want to drain out from the center of the bottom so I don't think a regular burner would work because there would be an elbow and a ball valve right where the burner would...
