    Cleaning ball-lock kegs

By "ball lock" do you mean they have a ball in the center? To clarify do they look like this. or like this.

Experimenting with a faster way to immersion cool

I believe if you are using a frozen jug to chill you will get the same results without the salt. If you plan on using a second jug (not recommended) make sure it is very clean and sanitized before dropping it in because you will be near the temperature that will allow bacteria to take hold.

Took a gamble and it paid off

Using a CFC to chill without a pump isn't really a problem but if you want to clean it properly its best to recirculate your cleaner and sanitizer though it. A pump is much easier for doing that.

CFC's: Chillus vs. Chillzilla vs. "regular" CFC

The only difference between the convolutus and all the others is the size, they all work about the same. Because of the convoluted copper the convolutus has only 12' of tubing.

Opinions on Stainless Mesh Hop Spiders

I made one of these and it is working very well. the bags are only $3 each and they clean very easily. I thought about going all stainless but after building this I couldn't justify the extra cost. I put 2 1/2 pounds of hops in it for my last brew and I hardly had any in the kettle at the end...

Explain to me how a chest freezer is an ideal ferm chamber

"Explain to me how a chest freezer is an ideal ferm chamber" They really aren't "ideal" especially if you ferment in carboys. If you ferment in buckets you can lift them out by the handle but carboys are a pain to get in and out. Temp control is simple with the correct controller.

What do you rock while you brew?

I like all kinds of music but when I'm brewing I listen to this..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yp80cBKPa78&feature=youtu.be

    Cost of repairing a fridge/freezer

I have one of those also, you can't beat the price for one that heats and cools at the same time. You just have to build into the fridge or make a box, they're not plug and play.

    Master Fit 240v 4500w Element

The only problem I can see is mounting that flat plate on the side of a curved pot and making a seal. Since it uses bolts for mounts you would have to make 5 holes in the pot and make sure they all seal. You would be better off paying $12 for an element at HD or Lowes.

    Cheap compact wort pump

If it's any consolation if you drop a March pump on the head it will break also. At least you didn't spend $150 on this pump....

What did I do to my freezer?

I would have let it run for about 2 weeks before doing anything to it due to the fact you got it because it wasn't working. Most of the time when freezers die it is because of a leak and it's usually in the skin so it's not repairable.

    ebay aquarium temp controller build

My Ranco got the E2 kiss of death and won't cycle anymore. A friend of mine bought 6 of these controllers and they shipped the 240V ones even though he ordered 110. They just gave him credit so they were free and he gave me 3. I pulled it apart and converted it to 9VAC so I mounted a power...

    Heating a Fermentation Chamber

I didn't have enough room for anything but a 100w light bulb so I went with that.

What to do with an empty keg?

A new Keg costs a brewery about $125, they should charge that much for the deposit but it would hurt their sales because nobody wants to plunk down close to $300 for a keg of beer. The $40 deposit is just a reminder that the keg is not yours to keep.
