    Dried fruit

Will just add the concentrate into the fermenter as the beer is fermented with melange around August 2016 and it's as clear as a pilsner so it's ready to go a tad sour but drinkable for my first go. Will bottle a few bottles as is for a taste comparison at a later date. The actual cherries...

    Dried fruit

Got these but they have too much unnecessary junk in them. So I also bought a bottle of 100% montmorency cherry juice. So I will have a play around with that. Stupid question but do I add the juice as it's fruit and let a secondary fermentation happen or do I dose it into individual bottles...

    Dried fruit

Thanks for the reply. What is the benefit of using the concentrate is that it is consistent or the there is no faffing about washing fruit or finding a suit able cherries. What would be the typical dosage per 15l or is is it all done to personal preference. Having never had a kriek before I...

    Dried fruit

I'm looking too add sour cherries to a blonde sour. But the only ones local too me are dried but with added sugar and sunflower oil. I believe the oil can be washed off with starsan as per American sour beers book instructions i think is where i seen it. I haven't bought them yet as I'm...

    Out of date PBW

Small update on cleaner. I haven't used it for cleaning yet but I did use it on my nasty coffee stained flask and it looks brand new so that's a good sign I think anyway.

    Out of date PBW

Possibly as it's meant for foodstuffs so they have to have a date by law. For that amount of pbw and the price a little extra won't be a bad thing. On a side note it could be the packaging itself because if you but a bottle of water for example it has a sell by date and it's water Thanks jamie

    Out of date PBW

Hi all I have the chance to buy a large tub of PBW 3.6 kg for £30 when a 454g tub for £15. But the best before date is august 2016. So would this be worth buying or should I steer clear. It is from a respectable seller so it will have been factory sealed. Thanks jamie

Can you Brew It recipe for Firestone Walker Double Barrel Ale

Hi eucrid this is an old old thread and I've been using it for most of my brews since last summer. Your right about the ibus but the majority of bitterness comes from the 0 min which is a whirlpool addition. If you've listened to all the cybi podcasts you will learn as jamil and crew find...

    I think I need a blender

The starter is clearing now should I chill and decant or just pitch it all in the fermenter?

    I think I need a blender

Pretty much thought the flask would be fine as of the boiling and the stir bar will be put to the side for funky occasions only

    I think I need a blender

Here's my amalgamation 24 hrs on the stir plate going to switch it off now

    I think I need a blender

I've got the amalgamation up to 1.5L on the stir plate. Would that be enough for a 5 gallon batch or would I bump it up again. Here's a possibly silly question the erlenmeyer will be fine as in for reusing for clean starters as the heat will kill any Brett off but I'm asuming the stir bar...

    I think I need a blender

Thanks for the reply. I could drink it but I would like other people to try instead of there generic yellow fizzy water. I'm perhaps thinking that i have to use the melange again but I don't have to use it again. Thats the joy of blending although I've never done it. But I'm sure it will be a...

    I think I need a blender

First time poster long time time lurker. Loads of great info here. This is only kinda my first proper sour apart from a saison with TYB Brussels and TYB farmhouse sour which didn't get very sour as I didn't let it get to warm. I've got a golden sour going which is the rare barrel grain...
