    Hops problem

I've been tweaking a recipe of an SNPA clone and I haven't been able to nail the hops at all, and I am really confused as to why. I've made two batches. The first recipe I felt needed more hops to get close to the SNPA (which in theory it shouldn't have because it was listed at 38 IBU)...

    Conical Fermenters

I've been looking into purchasing a conical. Blichmann's stuff looks class but I kinda sorta want to try a plastic one first. I was wondering if anybody had purchased a 15gallon inductor tank. Just wondering if there are any special things you need to do to the tank if you bought the plastic...

    Quick ?

I brewed the second round of this pale ale recipe I've been trying to master. Still lacking in hops and needs some more tweaking, but it has a pretty weird off flavor to it. It was bottled 2 weeks ago, carbonation on point. Does it just need time for the off flavor to condition out?

    Foaming question.

Did my first AG brew in awhile last night. Had a TERRIBLE case of foaming with the brew...threatened boil over for 40+mins (could've been longer, only started counting after a bit). Foam would NOT dissipate. I have very little head space and did not use anything like fermcap etc. Was...

    Grain Crushing

If I fork the $120 to buy a 7lb grain mill, would it be worth it if I mainly purchased my grains online? Is there anything special a home brew shop could do that I can't? Also on that note... I want to buy grains online from Rebelbrewer (they're listed in the vendors). Has anyone had any...

    Grain Crush

My local home brew shop has recently been sold to some knuckle head. The other day I went in there to purchase an extract kit to refine my kegging technique with.... there was a lady there that had no idea what all grain brewing was, and asked me if it was hard. I'm assuming she doesn't know...

    Hose diameter question

Bought some 3/16" hose and it won't fit my cobra faucet, I'm thinking that 3/16" means in the inside diameter? thx

    Hose length

ok once again, my cornelius keg is NOT hooked up to a tap...it has a spout that is black and I press it with my thumb to deliver the beer. I will try the same method with this but was wondering if the LINE attatched to said SPOUT ***NOT TAP*** needed to be longer. Thanks (capitals for...

    Hose length

My commercial beer lines flow fine with delivering beer from commercial kegs. I was wondering if my home brew keg's delivery hose is too short. I don't think I have ever successfully kegged a beer...but it does pour foamy which Ive been told can be cured by determining the correct length of...

    Hose length

I posted a thread a few days ago about kegging....got great feedback. One of the feedbacks was that my hose may be too short, its about 3-4ft in length. I was given a length to help me determine the adequate length of my hose. I do not hook my corny keg up to my keggerator (its commercially...

    Comprehensive Kegging Question

thanks for the links & advice everyone, I will be trying these tips with my extract brown that should be ready soon. In the meantime I'll be hitting my bottles with some AGs and maybe even throw one into a keg and try it out again!

    Comprehensive Kegging Question

I condition it in secondary usually for at least a week before transferring to a keg, does that count?

    Comprehensive Kegging Question

I have heard a little bit about beer lines and such (length) forcing the carb out. Can you explain that further? I got a corny keg with a 3' hose I think.

    Comprehensive Kegging Question

I have read the sticky....so reminders are not necessary. That being said, I have tried all but one method for force carbonating my cornelius kegs. I am going to list the methods I've tried and my results in a numbered fashion so people can respond accordingly to the numbers with comments or...
