I am an AL Tigers fan, but I have adopted the Brewers as my fav. NL team, especially since I went to WI last week. They are a similar team to the tigers.

Place them in a grain bag, heat to around 170 for a half hour, pull the grains out with a strainer and rinse them with some water around 185 or so. Thats always how ive done it and it works fine. You dont have to rinse them either i dont think. IMO though, it helps get all the flavor of your grains.

Hey man...Im in Madison now....Pretty nice town here. We went to The Old Fashioned earlier right by the capitol building. They seem to have a variety of local brews there. I only had an Island Wheat while I was there and it was pretty good. Where is Great Dane at?

Welcome michigander. Generally darker brews are a little more forgiving. A brown ale would be a good brew to start with. Either find a simple recipe or buy a kit online. IMO midwestsupplies.com and northernbrewer are my favorites. Fast shipping to our area.

wow...thats warm water out of the tap. Advantage of having your own well I guess. My water is around 55 all year round.

I have a stout that is pretty much ready to go. 3 weeks in the bottle this weekend. Last weekend it was pretty tasty. I'll be leaving this weekend for a week, so if someone wants to swap a bottle let me know. I can ship mine out before I leave, but probably wont taste yours til the next weekend.
