    Extending beer lines

I think youll have great success in cooling down the lines in the tower to match the temp of your fridge. There are a good number of people that have the same problem with uncooled towers where the gas comes out of solution in the warm line and causes the first pour to foam excessively. What...

Best way to fill corny keg?

Open it up and place the end of your hose on the bottom. It is imperative that you avoid splashing at this point or youll oxygenate the beer so trying it through the pressure relief is going to cause it to splash when it hits the bottom. I also wouldnt try and put it through either of the...

DOG LOVERS: I have a year to teach my dog to fetch a beer from the fridge!

When it comes to commands Ive found with my dogs that using a 'one word' command is generally best. For a quick disconnect on the fridge Id recommend an old leash scrap with some velcro on it and then use double sided tape to attach the other piece of velcro onto the bottom of the door. Youll...

    Gelatin guide; pictures!

This is exactly how I do it except I heat mine on the stove. My microwave is a bit too finicky to be trusted. :cross:

    Is my auto siphon broken.

I had mine pop out and luckily had some copper pipe laying around. I balanced the black button on the end of it and slid the siphon tube down over the pipe being careful not to bump it on the sides. Once I got the two tabs on the button lined up I pushed down gently until it clicked back in...

    Whiskey and Coke on Tap

30 PSI for rootbeer is generally where mine is set at. What is the temp in your fridge and is the line contained in a cool place (not a tower, etc) where it could be warming up? My guess is that you have simply overcarbed and/or allowed the line to get warmer than the keg. I think your best...

    Better Bottle Airlocks?

^This Ive got 3 BB's and these are the only stoppers I use. The solid ones with a hole drilled in them dont do a very good job and just 'sit' on the opening. These stoppers can get a decent seal if thats what you are looking for. I also use the caps when I have to hook up a blowoff hose.

    Pitching US-05

No starter for me on any dry yeast. Ive never had a problem with 10+ batches.

I'm not fearing the foam ................. but

Most likely no. You are likely seeing some leftover krausen/yeast rafts/small trapped CO2 bubbles. Every fermentation is different and every yeast ferments differently. Ive made 5 different batches with US-05 and each has had a different level of foam to some degree when its time for...

Using Knox gelatin for the 1st time

Airlock activity is not a sign that fermentation is done, just that the vigorous fermentation is over. You really need to take gravity readings with a hydrometer over the course of several days to make sure the gravity isnt dropping. Once its stable fermentation is over and you can move on to...

    Grey Corny Feet!

Bring a small pot of water to a boil and drop them in long enough to soften them slightly. Then while they are still warm fish them out with a spoon and push them onto the lid.

    Tracking soda batches

I use Beersmith for brewing and a spiral bound notebook for any soda stuff. Im not sure what level you plan to take it to but if youre handy with Excel you could probably design something to at least print off when you make a batch and just fill in info that is pertinent to your operation and...

In search of a decent thermometer.

I was using an old digital kitchen thermometer for my brewing purposes but the probe finally took a poop when the silicone insulation cracked and allowed liquid to directly contact the wires giving me readings of over 250* when they got wet. It still works fine when it stays dry though...

How long can my sanitized bottles sit?

For cleaning use PBW or Oxyclean Free. If you took care to get them completely cleaned out after the last use you wont need to clean them again. You just want them to be free of yeast and other debris. Star san is supposed to foam. Thats just what it does. I pour my beer straight in on top...

    WANTED: Ball Lock Corny keg

Been in there a few times but last I saw he only had about 3 kegs out. I dont remember the price but I have to swing by there and pick up another hydrometer....apparently the one I bought was not meant to be boiled. It broke the internal thermometer.:drunk:

    WANTED: Ball Lock Corny keg

Hi, Toledo OH resident looking for reasonably priced corny keg(s). I am searching for kegs that arent deeply dented (minor dings OK) and with no loose tops or bottoms. If you have any to sell I would be interested.
