    Commercial keg question

Is yours like this http://stores.kegconnection.com/Detail.bok?no=14 with the nipple screwed on or is the nipple molded into the body of the disconnect?

    soda next to beer.

I have my setup like this Tank -->Regulator for beer -->Regulator for soda The beer regulator has a single hose coming off into a 4 way manifold with a check valve for each line The soda regulator has the check valve mounted right below the set screw and then the line comes off from...

    soda next to beer.

Ive never had a problem with root beer (or other soda) smells getting anywhere but the line and keg that are specifically dedicated for them. I use a separate regulator and single line for carbing my soda since I run it out at 25-30 PSI.

jack and jill / stag and doe party ideas

Do the dollar dance thing. You or someone at the party DJ's a few songs and guys pay a buck to dance with your lady and the ladies pay a buck to have a dance with you. The dance doesnt have to last very long and the DJ will tell the next ladies/guys in line when its their turn (every 30...

    Drinking slurry!

I usually drink all the pours that come out of my kegs. I did have one pour that came out with lots of yeast in it though and didnt taste very good so that one got dumped.

    Absolute minimum needed to keg

Do you plan to keep filling your trash can with ice to keep it cold or will you be floating the keg rather quickly? For a party the trash can and ice would work quite well but for long term drinking I think you would probably want a fridge of some sort.

Natural carbonation in keg, is it too late?

Ive been kegging since Ive started brewing this fall and my first 5 kegs were naturally carbed so I decided to try one where I would force carb using set and forget so as not to cause any issues. I can honestly say that I will never force carb anything but soda ever again. The beer that I...

    infection in kegs

You can dis-assemble the disconnects using a flat head screwdriver so you might be able to salvage them.

    coleman extreme 70qt

Im using the same cooler with a copper manifold. Its good for doing batches that have heavy grain bills but I dont like the amount I have to vorlauf when doing batches with 10-12 lbs of grain before the wort runs clear. I got mine for 29.99 at Target when they were clearancing the sporting...

Does it matter what liquid you use in the airlock?

Vodka goes in all my airlocks after I noticed them sucking in star san one day. Its cheap insurance than *nothing* is going to live in it.

    Poppit replacement question

Likewise....I always get a little bit that dribbles down the keg when I take off a disconnect. I attribute it to a little bit of beer in the disconnect itself as well as the little bit of time the poppet is open while the 'spear' in the disconnect keeps it open while you pull it off.

    Craig knows it's stuff!

If you guys are as fed up with Fargo dragging up these threads there is a Report Postbutton you can click. If you all would do that it'll get locked.

Pulled tap handle and nothin is coming out.

If youre getting that much sediment in your keg that you clogged your tap you need to stop siphoning before you pick that much up in the first place. Ive never put a beer in secondary except to dry hop and age a stout and Ive never had a clogged tap. Another place to look is the dip tube...

Making a yeast starter - Step by Step Video

Nice video. You do know that fermcap is a silicone based product right? The usage there seemed a bit excessive.

Letting a Strong Ale sit...how long?

Not at all. I brewed a 1.078 IIPA that I hooked up after naturally carbing for 2 weeks in the keg after sitting another week in secondary for the dry hop. Its been on tap for the past two weeks and the alcohol burn is starting to fade and let the hops shine through. In short, go for it...

    Is my auto siphon broken.

I think youre worrying too much. Just run star-san or whatever sanitizer you use through it and let is soak for a minute before you use it. It will kill anything it touches with that contact time.

    old co2

CO2 does not go stale. Its an inert gas and will not pick up any flavors or smells.

    Wort loss from hop absorption

Im in the same boat as you. The thing that irks me is that my current setup only allows me to do 7 gallon boils so you can imagine the losses in an IIPA. The only way Ive found to achieve my desired volumes is to use beersmith to compensate as stated above.
