Since I am going to keg can I brew another batch in the Bottling Bucket?

I had the same thing happen. Went down to my storage unit and had about half of a 5 gallon batch on the ground of a highly anticipated Wheat on the ground with Fruit Flies. Dumped it. I will only use solid buckets from now on. Only b/c there is no telling the garbage lies I could of have come up...

    Plastic Lager..........

I read some posts on overcarbing. That is what I did. Released pressure, turned down the psi and the beer is golden, literally. ~Diz

    Plastic Lager..........

So I finished lagering a Stella Clone from AHB this week. On whole it is very good and has a good bite and clean finish. After a pint though I am getting a plastic aftertaste, which obviously is unpleasant. No one is trying to perfect a plastic lager. I do believe for some reason I used plastic...

The Little Known Yeast Starter ?

So, I pitched a yeast starter for the first time after about twenty brews, and man has that thing taken off. I have brewed both ales and lagers in the past. I have looked at MrMalty and it says to pitch x.x vials or come up with that much. Obviously you should pitch more for a lager...

    Free Beer for feedback

Sure I'd be in for a shipping cost. I am from Seattle and frequent the great craft breweries from Sea and Portland. ~Diz

    I wanna make beer but??

Same. I live in a two room condo and brew on the deck with a jet burner. We have tight association rules and there isn't any problem. Brew on. Just took a growler of my home stuff to my cousins who brew with a "we brew for you shop" and mine beat their's hands down. ~Diz

    1st Time Starter

Tonight I made my first starter for the AHB Canadian Ale. I made one quart of water and 1 cup of DME. Boiled for 15 mins, cooled and pitched in a gallon clear growler. I plan on brewing the all grain Ale on Sat or Sun. I guess I just wait. I am tired of my beers taking 3 days to take...

    How soon is too soon?

I wish I had gone the route to begin with. It really isn't that hard. Just some good reading. I had to look up strike water and all that and after that boom. I did about 10 extract batches and have seen my quality grow since moving up. The required equip is a cooler, propane burner and a larger...

    Why do you homebrew?

A great radio host Tom Leykis would tell his listeners, if you live in Podunk wherever and enjoy something not from your region go there. If you like wine, hit France, Argentina, someplace. If you like fast cars Italy. There are places that have what you enjoy. Homebrewing is the ability to...

    first lager...

I have done a few lagers a few different ways as discussed and they have turned out great each time. Kinda funny, when I started getting in to the hobby I was completely backwards. Before research, I thought I would just crank out a bunch of tasteless lagers (BMC) and work towards something...

Trappist Ale --- The proper serving

I used to work on Cruise Ships and Antwerp was one of our first Euro stops. I fell in love with the bartender named Imca. She had the beer knife thing for the foam. I was ready to propose right there. A hot girl, with a beer knife. Priceless. ~Diz

Ok, we love them, but what are they really dof oing?

Without yeast pooping off alcohol we would all be drinking Clausthaler or whatever it is. I find it facinating everytime I have a brew in my 6.5gal carboy to watch fermentation. Is there some sort of method to the dance? This one is a Stella Clone and took nearly three days to take...

Hot break forever, or a screw up?

Thank you for the help. It was a great brew last time and didn't want to make a mistake. ~Diz

Hot break forever, or a screw up?

I brewed the AHS Platinum Bavarian Hefe today. I have brewed it before and it was excellent. I have the Igloo ten gallon cooler, banjo burner, basically the typical set up. Everything went fine with temps and water amounts (beersmith how do you nail it everytime?). I checked the boil...

Turkey Fryer hybrid method with photos

As I was vigorously stirring today trying to get my wort down to pitch temp I was thinking about something like the stick blender. Actually a drill motor with some sort of attachment. Hmmmmm...still thinking about it. ~Diz

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Wife is just about out the dooor for the day, Iron Maiden pumped up, and a AHS Platinum Hefe all grain is the order of the day! ~Diz

Hosted a great Homebrew Party Last Night...

Isn't it fun when you have some family, friends and a nice brew you have been nuturing for two months getting people smashed. It was a simple Canadian Ale extract from AHS. Had to hit a 13 mile run today to get the booze out of me. Love it! ~Diz

    making a measuring stick

There was another thread on this. Why have anything touch your beer you are not sure of? Just mark the stick in reverse so that it never touches the beer. So basically the "highest" mark on your stick would be the lowest measurement in your kettle. ~Diz

    Mistake to not repeat....

Yikes, sorry. I used a bottling bucket for a primary and left it down in my storage unit. I went to check on it after about four days and there were a lot of fruit flies. Yeah, there was a slow leak around the spigot. Dumped that batch, never use a bottling bucket as a primary I was...
