    Is IPA really that popular?

My local store sold out of SNCA in one day each the first 2 deliveries this year. We are a small but loyal group;)

What's a good beer type to age for a year?

    Try this one http://www.northcoastbrewing.com/beer-OldStockAle.htm

Labels that make you pass up a beer

I've said it before, but if there was only one brewery left in the world I would want it to be Fuller's edit: That's a good beer

    Can you use secondary yeast

Basically you're getting the runt of the litter. It will work.....but maybe not as well as you hoped

Insert Tab A into Slot B

None lately (although the swimming pool pump may change that), but my previous house in Ellicott City Md. was built in 1860 and nothing (I mean nothing) was square. When I replaced the kitchen counters I discovered this the hard way

Fresh mushrooms and onions over grilled steak.

While I don't have any growing in my yard, I love mushrooms and onions. I'm doing a mascarpone/emmentaler cheese with mushroom, onion and bacon stuffed acorn squash and some BBQ turkey breast tenderloins tonight for dinner

Single hop Simcoe idea - my first recipe

As long as you know that you like Simcoe. To me the would be like cat pee on a pine tree, but others don't notice it

I bring you the next level of idiocy in sunglasses.

I'll have to say that I bet my FIL will buy a pair. He likes the best and will pay for it ( and he can afford it).

Calling all IPA lovers...what are your favorite 3?

For standard IPA's I'll go with Hop Ottin SNCA and about 10 tied for 3rd For IIPA's Pliny Ruination Hopslam

Monster Energy Drinks attack VT Microbrewery

They have to fight to keep their trademark safe, and they chose to save the little guy court costs. They did what was right for their shareholders, and what was Right. I for one will once again buy their products.

    Reaaaaaaaaaally low OG.

How was the crush? That is usually the first place to look when you get low efficiency. Also did you adjust for temps?

    Drunk Owl Mango

I use 7-8 lbs for 5 gallons and it comes as almost an aftertaste. It starts sour and then you get mango/sweet(very little) at the end of the sip.

    Saxophone Solos

I saw Saborn in '83 on the first show of a 4 concert tour where he recorded the album "Straight to the heart" Even if you don't like jazz, Sanborn and Hiram Bullock (RIP) rocked back then

    holy crap!

My favorite IPA ( Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale ) will be out soon and Anderson Valley's Hop Ottin is another winner, although maybe too much to start with;). I took a quick liking to hops and a dislike of too malty, so I love IPA's and IIPA's and don't like Barleywines and RIS's

    IPA Recipe Help...First Try

IMHO if you're going to use rye I would use 2.5+ lbs. With 1 pound you really won't notice the rye. I use 2lbs in a smaller Amber Ale https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f63/rambler-owl-rye-amber-ale-59032/

    Stupid freaking snow

Your freezing weather is going to be here Sunday as we prepare for the first day with highs only in the low 70's since early May. I can't wait:ban::ban: edit: I'm 2 miles from the Gulf

The "bad advice I got from the LBHS" thread

Well, I kind of agree with him there, although the rest was pretty bad advice

    Budweiser Select 55

I had the unfortunate "pleasure" of trying this a couple months ago https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f5/bud-select-55-a-132643/ and I've noticed that it occipies more shelf space at the local stores than it did just 2 months ago. Sadly this is what most people want, I'll take the IIPA instead
