Wil Wheaton - New Homebrewing Post

If you watch big bang theory he plays himself in a few episods. Ultimately he was a character on star trek. His character was Wesley Crusher.

1 year aged brew for friend/soldier, suggestions

I thing that someday I want to get into long aged beers, so I figure no better time than the present. If it goes bad, no huge loss (live and learn), and I can brew something else later on to make up for it. Zamial, that sounds very intriguing, is 10 lbs of honey alright/ having 50% of the...

1 year aged brew for friend/soldier, suggestions

I wasn't completely sure where this thread should go so I thought that I would place it here, hopefully that is alright. So a good friend and best man was deployed yesterday to Afghanistan. He will be gone for a year and I want to make up something nice and tasty that will be able to age for...

how long once I keg before I should start carbing?

I would also say that depending upon headspace in the keg, natural carbing might be a good idea like mentioned before. Otherwise you may run a risk of oxidation. Generally when I keg, I will fill with co2, release the gas and repeat two more times before I fill for a final time (thus reducing...

    Cream Ale

tmurph, you should let us know how that goes, sounds tasty. How much zest are you thinking of using? You planning on putting it in the boil or secondary?

    carbing corny kegs

Actually theoretically turning it on it side would potentially help it to carb faster under certain circumstances. Ultimately CO2 needs direct contact with the beer to dissolve into it and carb it. When you shake the keg what it does is creates little bubbles of CO2 which effectively increases...

    Cream Ale

I recently brewed this kit. It is a really good summer beer, and my wife says it's the best beer I've done so far. Took 2 weeks primary, 2 weeks secondary, 1 week keg conditioning and force carb. It did turn out about as dark as yours is looking like. Probably since I added all LME before boil.

    quick liquor from Midwestbrewing?

From what I've heard, if you want to make a cordial or something to that nature, getting everclear (or insert favorite vodka here) and infusing fruit or berries turns out wonderfully, and probably easier. The other drinks like rum or whisky, I'd personally prefer the local liquor store. Beer...

Got the wrong type of yeast, will it work?

It's been about a week in primary now, and boy I tell ya, you guys were right. Those yeast are feisty little fellas. I'm doing primary in a bucket and I have had to change out the air-lock twice already due to it filling with krausen and all but completely blocking off air escape!

Got the wrong type of yeast, will it work?

So I picked up ingredients to make a honey porter from my LHBS. 6 # gold extract, 2# honey, .75# chocolate malt, .5 # carapils and hops. I was supposed to get London ale yeast but I got London ale iii yeast. Will that still be alright to use?

    Newbie Here

Hi all, Just joined the threads not too long ago, been following for a little while since I have been brewing for a little less than a year now. I'm situated in MN and currently on brew number 4&5 and the only thing slowing me down is space available to store the beer. Cheers!
