    Help Starting To Brew!!

Welcome to brewing! Personally I do 5 gallon brews and started with full boil extract beers. If this is also where you are starting there are any number of things that you would need. Basics: -Boil kettle (a 30qt aluminum kettle and propane burner are great if you can brew outside or in a...

    What's in your fermenter(s)?

I've got: 5 gallons of chaga beer (barley wine with a tea like substance.. aka chaga) 5gal Belgian amber ale 5 gal of "fat boy" an amber ale that I made for me and my husky bros. And 5gallon of my imperial honey porter.

American Amber Ale Caramel Amber Ale

I honestly think you could but I'm not sure how the flavor would work. Try it if you'd like but maybe try the original recipe first then see what you'd think.

    Hows this look?

American Amber Ale Caramel Amber Ale

Daggers, I would think that it should be fine. Maybe there was issues with mash temp or something that the fg is that high. If its been that long it's probably alright to bottle. Any one else want to chime in?

    Blue Moon Clone

It might be my phone but I don't see number 12 on the sheet. Could you re-post?

Why did you get into this hobby?

I guess for me the main reason is that I got interested (aka jealous) when my friend showed me his setup. So I got a kit and started brewing. So I guess building things is kinda what I like to do but primarily building recipes and using my chemistry and cooking passion.

American Amber Ale Caramel Amber Ale

You know... what you could do is stir it up a bit, get the gunk off the bottom then place a small wedge like a half inch or inch thick piece of wood under the bottom front part by the spigot. When it re-settles the gunk should be lower than your spigot and you should get less trub in your...

    Lowest OG ever???

First thing I would say is that with your ice to cool it could have diluted it a bit. Try mixing it with a spoon and checking again.

Never dump your beer!!! Patience IS a virtue!!! Time heals all things, even beer!

I have to give my 2 cents, I had a pumpkin beer that I accidentally dropped the racking cane on the floor, forgot to wash it off, and put it back into the beer while transferring to secondary. At the time the beer tasted great! However as luck would have it, it turned sour and not very good...

I was thinking about coriander but then I saw : https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f37/wheat-beer-nottingham-yeast-56493/ and it made me rethink the coriander with the blueberries. Thanks for the input on the 1010, I'll look into that one. I was still kinda wondering if anyone has used 1450 in a...

    Help with Wheat Recipe

Hey all, So I am thinking of putting together a Wheat beer for my wife. We were in Atlanta airport recently and she found a beer at Sweetwater brewing company that was a blueberry wheat (at least I think it was a wheat... dont fully remember...). Ultimately I want to get something like it...

    Yeast Washing Illustrated

I'll second that. I've used them 7 months later and it still made great beer. No problems with fermentation either. I would have no problems trying one a year later if stored correctly.

First draft of the logo. Critiques please?

I personally liked it when the astrix was either above the I or at the nose of the elephant. Otherwise looks good.

Extract kit need extra pound of sugar. Is table sugar frowned upon for this?

Short answer is yes you can. But if you go too high you could start to make it taste cidery. Like mentioned already a Belgian ales might be upwards of 20% of the frementables. But in an American pale ale you might not want to add more than 5-10%. The other thing to think about is how high of a...

    bottling beer still

From what I have read in other threads is that if you are worried about the yeast you can always pitch new yeast before you bottle. I assume you don't actually want flat beer correct? Which yeast did you pitch initially? Even only being 3 months out you may still be able to carb with the current...
