On average about how long does it take for a hop rhizome to sprout once planted?

    Reusing yeast

Im not making the same beer but the same type, therefor I can reuse the yeast. Would that little bit of trub effect my new batch of beer? And I understand how to yeast wash but I have not seen anything on how to use it and how to pitch it. Once its settled out do I use the thick layer of...

    Reusing yeast

So I have 5 gallons of beer in primary and on transfer day I plan on brewing up another batch. Ive learned through multiple sources how to wash and store yeast but im wondering if there is something a little easier for a one time thing. I really dont have any interest right now in washing and...

How does this sound for an APA

Im a big fan of dry hopping, and hops in general but I just brewed up 2 5 gallon batches of IPA's and my husband wanted me to brew something a little less hoppy!

    Dry hopping question

thats what I thought. Plus if im going to dry hop when fermentation is done it makes more sense to do it in a secondary so its racked off the trub

    Too late to start?

They're so inexpensive it's worth a try. Especially if you do it in a planter you can always bring it indoors. I'm not sure when the growing season starts for Texas but isn't it always warm? Would it make a difference when you planted them if its always warm?

    Dry hopping question

I've always read not to put them in the primary because the rigorous fermentation can "blow out" all of the aroma

    Honeysuckle Wheat Ale?!?

My honey suckle is about to bloom. I'm curious if you've tried it yet. I'd like to attempt it too but not sure whether to make the tea or extract with vodka

    Dry hopping question

When dry hopping in the secondary can I just toss the hop pellets in loose or do I have to use a mesh bag?

    Spent grains.

My sister in law has chickens so I will be saving some for myself to make bread then give the rest to her. I am just going to freeze it in ziplock bags

    SMaSH experiment

Ya the hour long boil is for evaporation, sanitization and hop flavor.

    Too late to start?

Thanks for the info. I'm attempting 3 different rhizomes and hoping for the best. I am the absolute worst when it comes to gardening and could kill just about anything I try to grow! I could probably kill weeds! I have one I'm trying to grow up my deck, when in my back yard on a post and my...

    Spent grains.

Not trying to be negative or start a debate but in nature grains are not part of a dogs diet, and as a treat I dont see it as a problem but those dog foods are not good for dogs and many seem to be allergic or get sick from them down the line. Their systems were not designed for those types of...

What does everyone do with their spent grains? Does anyone bake with them or give them to local farmers?

    SMaSH experiment

are you talking about mashing the full 5 gallon batch of maris otter then splitting it up into 5 1 gallon batches? If thats what youre planning and I were doing it i would mash it as you normally would for a 5 gallon batch, and sparge to your normal preboil amount then divide it up equally...
