Do you have to be "legal" age to buy Home brewing supplies ?

Just wondering... I am way past that point in my life but me and my wife had a discussion on this. After all you are not buying alcohol per say, just the ingrediants to make it.

The trick to a great low-alcohol brew?

How do they do it, according to my brewere friends at Miller / Coors they start with beer that is 7 - 8 % abv and then water it down. I have tried the same trick, but have been unhappy with the results.

The official I Love Bacon thread

While grocery shopping the other day I picked up a tube of ready-to-cook cinnamon rolls and thought hey, I wonder how these would taste with bacon. As I read the back of the package I was reminded that the rolls are actually un-rolled when you remove them. I unrolled the first pastry and the...

    Green Chile beer

I made a Kolsche and "dry hopped" a gallon of it over a couple of nice Hatch Chilis I roasted. Let them sit for a week. Tasted yesterday while bottling and you could taste the Hatch Peppers but not much heat. Thinks it will be good in a month or so but if not, I only have 12 bottles.

What else can you use hops for ?

I know hops are used in Beer, but me and a friend were having a discussion today and we couldn't figure out what else you could use them for. You can't bake with them or make any kinda food with them that we know about. Anyone out there have any other uses for them ?

Going to Amsterdam: Need Drinking Suggestions

This isn't drinking as much as it eating but De Waag is a 14th Century castle converted to a restaurant. Great food and the ambiance cant be beat, all lit by candles only. There are lots of pubs on the side streets that are good to watch traffic (Bicycles) go by on an evening.

Anyone familiar with this 3 gallon recipe?

I do only 3 gallon batches. I love the different beers I get to make and 3 gallons of one kind can sometimes be enough. Though I do have some I brew over and over. I am on a plan right now to make 52 different beers this year one beer a week. Some long term (Russian Imperial Stouts) and some...
