How do i install my pump?

So i am doing a weldless strut stand build. I have been trying to find information on positioning and priming the pump but apparrently search "how to prime a chugger pump" yeild absolutly nothing on priming a pump. I have read that the outlet should be in the 12 position and the inlet at the 6...

stuck ferment 1.030 after 2 weeks, help me get better.

I know that sometimes racking to a secondary and picking up some sediment from the primary can get more fermentation going again.

Batch Sparging: what's your setup like?

Just to clarify oxidation from aeration of wort is not magically reversed by boiling. Boiling will only release oxygen dissolved it the wort. Oxidation is a chemical reaction that is not easily reversed under typical conditions. But with that being said the amount of oxidation damage cause by...

My Stirplate... Cheap and Easy Build...

Either drop the voltage of your power supply or look to add a resistor some to the fan positive wire. It could be spinning to fast.

    Making Recipes Your Own

I found that even if I make my own recipe off the top of my head some one has either done it or something very very close. The thing is most styles tend to follow a typical recipe formula. For example I use 50% two row, 40% wheat, and 10% oats for any wheat beer i make. I believe that came from...

My primary smells like eggs/sulfur. Help?

Some times if the yeast are really stressed from high shipping temps you can get the sulfur smell. I had a pack of 1056 that smelled like it dealt it but the beer came out just fine. deffinatly let it sit extra to allow it to disapate. Usually racking to a carboy will get rid of it.

    Lesson Learned. Use Rice halls.

I also built another mash tun becuase i found a crack in my 10gal round home depot cooler. really bummed so i had to get a cheap $20 12 gal coleman. Did a great job but it has about 0.25gal dead space on it. compared to the .125gal dead space on the round guy.

    Lesson Learned. Use Rice halls.

For those telling me not to dump. We did have to dump it. We just didnt have enough time to mess around with it and finish the brew. Second, I do think it was the steal mesh pinching down on itself. Last night we brewed this again with a bazooka screen and it worked like a charm. We also tossed...

    Lesson Learned. Use Rice halls.

I have a 10gallon home depot rubber made with braided steel mesh. I left for the store when my brother decided he was fed up. I did suggest to him to grab a collinder and start straining. I would of tried to blow back but i dont have a tube that would fit over the nozzle of the tun. We even...

    Lesson Learned. Use Rice halls.

Stuck sparge. $25 down the drain. Will always add rice hulls. 9lb grain bill. 2-row biscuit malt roasted barley. We are thinking the biscuit malt, @2.5lb, is the culpret being it is the only malt we have never used before. I never had a stuck sparge before and don't use rice halls. I will...

    Sorachi Ace Wheat Ale.

Just an update to this recipe. I just taste my first shot and I LOVE SORACHI ACE. It is so crisp and refreshing. I did find myself adding a lemon wedge like i would with a vodka tonic and it is even that much better. Gonna tinker with making it so i dont need the added lemon. Maybe lemon juice...

Batch Sparging: what's your setup like?

It seems we all do the same thing. I have a 7 gallon brew pot. Heat my strike in the pot and mash in a 10gal Home Depot Rubbermade. Drain into my ale pale. Heat the sparge in my brew pot, Sparge and drain in the same pail. Poor back into my brew pot for boil. I do have a brand new 15 gallon brew...
