    The complete joy of homebrewing recipes

    The first book I bought when I started brewing a few years ago was the complete joy of homebrewing, and I still find myself going back to it every once in a while and then to try a recipe from it. My favorite has been No Sham Shamrock Irish Red Ale. I've brewed this one a few times and will...

    Anyone brewed Papazians No Sham Shamrock Irish Red?

    I've brewed it 4 times (i think) and I really like it. I've changed it a few times and I had the recipes on my computer. It crashed a while back so I couldn't give you info as far as what I used. I've been thinking about making it again soon but using lager yeast. Definitely a good beer though!

    I just made this from the recipe in the complete joy of homebrewing, and I was wondering if anyone else has tried this? If so, what do you think of it?

    1st AG

    Hey everyone, I have about 10 extract brews under my belt, and decieded to build a 2 gallon MLT. I did a 5 gal PM last week with it(its currenty fermenting) and everything seemed to go pretty good. Assuming that my PM will be my best beer ever, i thought I would next move on to...

    using light malt extract

    Thanks for the response. In regards to the use of light extract, that is something that I will probably start playing around with my next few batches. With the OG question, I think you're right, I've been using the marking on the buckets. Hopefully before my next batch I will remember to...

    using light malt extract

    I have read a few times that when extract brewing, always use light malt extract as the base for the beer, then using the steeping grains to, for the lack of a better word, shape the beer. If I wanted to substitute amber, or dark extract with light extract in a recipe, how would i know how to...
