    Is Sparging Obsolete?

Ever read a thread that's 7 pages long and come out feeling like you know less at the end than you did when you started?

Upgrading to all grain. Looking for lessons learned

MORE planning - no, I was doing too much of it already. Ah, but that's not what you said... BETTER planning - I'll give you that :). Unfortunately, I had apparently reached the upper limit on the quality of my planning. And of course there's the things I planned to do, but then didn't...

Upgrading to all grain. Looking for lessons learned

As far as picking a bew - go with a style that you've had success with in extract. Don't pick something overcomplicated unless you really want that. For my first, I chose an IPA because I'd had success with that and find the extra hops to be forgiving of certain mistakes. As for lessons...

What I Learned from My First AG Brew Day

#11 - If you put anything in the hop spider to weigh it down, don't forget to reclaim those items. Don't know why it came to me this morning but for some strange reason I was sitting there drinking coffee when I realized that 8 days ago I put some SS washers in my hop spider to hold it down -...

What I Learned from My First AG Brew Day

I think I was getting a little desperate, certainly wasn't thinking as clearly. It was approaching midnight & raining. Looking back, I think I had a clogged dip tube in my BK.

    Ebay wine cooler fermentation chamber

With a mini fridge, can you set up heating and cooling (so you could program a temp range to stay between)? Is it strictly cooling? Or does it depend on the model?

Beer Trip from East to Midwest (Route and Place Suggestions Needed)

Go through Cincinnati, lots of breweries that may not have national attention, but many are worthy. You could easily spend two days visiting: MadTree Listermann's (home of Listermann's and Triple Digit, as well as a LHBS) Rhinegeist Christian Moerlein (Tap Room at the brewery, and/or swing...

What I Learned from My First AG Brew Day

Yes, I'm relieved to report my batch is bubbling away in the primary. Your post doesn't detract in the least. I posted mine for the benefit, and amusement, of others. I got a good laugh out of yours, too. Especially #2. I wish I'd thought of #1. But having gone through it & lived to tell the...

What I Learned from My First AG Brew Day

A backup propane tank was the one thing on my prep list that I kept forgetting. As soon as I had everything set in the mash tun, only 2 or 3 hours after my planned start, I made the trip out to pickup another tank. Went to the closest place and probably paid more for it, but I was finally able...

What I Learned from My First AG Brew Day

I recently made the step up to AG. After much planning and bargain hunting and shopping and planning, I finally got to brew. I moved out of the kitchen and into backyard. I learned some things in the process, and thought I'd share with the community. I hope those of you who have been around the...

1st AG - American Pale Ale - grain mix-up, problem?

Thanks. The hops adjustment - is this something one of the software packages helps with (BeerSmith, etc.)? I've considered looking into that, but so far my attention, and my $, has been focused on building my AG equipment.

1st AG - American Pale Ale - grain mix-up, problem?

Doing my first AG tomorrow. I pulled out what I hoped would be a simple recipe, but I had a mix-up with the grain. Recipe is below. While at LHBS, I got distracted and ended up with the wrong bucket. Instead of Pale malt, I grabbed mild 2-row malt (munton british). The label says it produces...

    Texas Blichmann Burner Tall

If it's still for sale, I'd like to be in line to buy it. I sent a PM earlier this week with my zip, let me know if you need anything else. Thanks.

PM sent. How old is the burner? How many times used? Any issues?

Pennsylvania FS: Plate chiller, 230v March Pump, Electric Brewery parts/accessories

Thanks for the extra picture. I'm new to pumps but after doing some research I agree with you. Since it's 230V it should only be run on 230V, and can't be modified. Guess I'll have to keep looking for a 115V model.

Pennsylvania FS: Plate chiller, 230v March Pump, Electric Brewery parts/accessories

How much to ship the pump to 45243? Could you post or PM close up pics of the labels on the pump?

Burner to support keggle? Bayou KAB4? Blich? Other?

What burners will support a keggle? Is the Bayou KAB4 big enough, or do I need KAB6? I've also looked at the Blichmann, but considering I can get a KAB4 for almost half the cost. Are there other burners I should look at?
