    favorite bourbons?

As others have said, Woodford Reserve is def a go to and recently discovered Tuthilltown Four Grain and Baby Bourbon - also delicious and go great with a cigar (or two or three)

    Favorite lyric from a song.

He must have been an admiral, a sultan, or a king And to his praises we shall always sing A look what he has done for us, he's filled us up with cheer! The Lord bless Charlie Mops the man who invented beer, beer, beer tiddly beer, beer, beer! *This should be played during ever brew session

    Angry responses

Not to mention if people didn't neglect the search function, we wouldn't have gem threads like these https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f39/homebrewing-non-alcoholic-beer-336782/ I was just about crying from laughing at this response

    Do you ever want to...

You could devise a mandatory quiz at the end of registration that forces people to read the FAQ section before allowing them to post a new thread. Maybe throw in a "This is how you execute a search" demo just to be safe :D

    East coast beer trip!!!

Unless they opened another location, Defiant Brewery is in Pearl River, NY right next to the train station. They also smoke ribs and some other goodies on the weekend that are first come first serve - that may have changed though.

NB Honey (Not Quite) Brown Ale

And now the wait begins (again). Will update in 2-3 weeks on the taste, which should be pretty good if the runoff while bottling is any gauge.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Honey Brown Ale going into bottles and Rye Stout going into primary. Going to be a great next few months!

NB Honey (Not Quite) Brown Ale

I did buy priming sugar with the kit, but am debating on using brown sugar or honey for some added flavor (albeit small) considering the absence of the specialty grains in the brew. Anyone have any thoughts?

NB Honey (Not Quite) Brown Ale

So I received the kit a little over 2 weeks ago and brewed late on a Saturday. I smacked the yeast pack and then realized there was no bag with specialty grains. I decided to brew anyways and have been pleasantly surprised with the results so far. The OG was 1.05 and gravity reading after 1 week...

    Returning samples to fermenter?

bmwwd6, I would sanitize the wine thief and hydrometer, pull a sample from the carboy or bucket using the wine thief and then drop the hydrometer into the thief for a reading. Once that's done, you can return the entire sample to the fermenter using the plug on the bottom of the thief with...

    Decreasing Fermentation Smell indoors

It seemed that majority of the people who used Montrachet without a yeast nutrient experienced a more odorous fermentation, especially within the first 3 days. One teaspoon of yeast nutrient/gallon may be something for the OP to consider or try one of the other dry wine/ale yeasts mentioned in...

    Decreasing Fermentation Smell indoors

Somewhere in that monster of a thread I thought I recall someone saying that yeast nutrient added to Edwort's Apfelwein would keep the house from smelling like 'rhino farts', especially in the first 3 days of fermentation

    Mistakes - Did I Contaminate?

The yeast should still be around at that temp, primary fermentation may just take a little longer if any yeast died. I somehow pitched yeast at around 120F my first time and had fermentation about a day later. Just make sure your gravity is steady before bottling. You may still want to keep a...
