    Hurricane Sandy

I'm filled up with propane, beer, CO2 and a generator. I'm not worried about looters--I'll just pass out brews and get 'em on my side :mug: We got hit badly last year here in NJ--Irene, then a freak October snowstorm. I'm hoping it's mostly hype, but I figure I'm ready if not.

    Hurricane Sandy

The big problem will be snow on deciduous trees with leaves still on. Last year we had trees down all over the place when it happened. No electricity for a week. Glad I brew with propane :-)

I think I found my soulmate...

Except Mormons don't drink. And they gave up polygamy when Utah became a state.

Adding a weldless valve to aluminum kettle

I think you have the o-ring on the wrong side of the kettle wall. My setup goes: ball valve, washer, kettle wall, o-ring, washer bushing. I have no leaks. Mine is aluminum too.

Pressure barell brewing only - stout.

Keep it loose like freisste said. How are the girlfriend's clothes? I had a mead blow its cork in the bathroom once, about 18 years ago. It made a mess on the ceiling and attracted ants. I'm _still_ hearing about it. I can't imagine if it had gotten over her good clothes. Oh, and the...

    New housing Idea/planned community

My wife said "no" when I wanted a floor drain in our kitchen renovation. Glad somebody else thinks these should be standard.

Pressure barell brewing only - stout.

It looks like you could loosen the cap to allow gas to escape while fermenting. When fermentation is over (you'll need a hydrometer to tell), draw the sediment off the bottom using the tap. Add the carbonating sugar, screw the lid on tight and it should carbonate in a few days.

What do you guys do when you hit a wall?

Try parti-gyle brewing http://morebeer.com/brewingtechniques/library/backissues/issue2.2/mosher.html Should be enough complexity there to keep you interested for a while.

    New housing Idea/planned community

I like it. Why not build a separate community brewery building--you could pool resources and get the really good stuff then.

What is this program that my wife speaks of?

For marital bliss, I suggest doing one of the things suggested before erasing the board. Get your buds to help if you can. The sooner you get one of the items done, the sooner you can get to what you want to do and the sooner they (and you) can pour a beer. After a couple of weeks, making a...

    Why oh why

I'm Dave, but people must hear "Steve"...maybe I'm slurring. Anyway, as long as they call me for a beer, I don't care what name they use. :)

    Sparge arm question

In this case, smaller is better. Lots of tiny holes will get you a nice spray. Experiment with it. You can always make holes bigger if there isn't enough flow.
