BeerSmith Question - Is trial version any different than purchased version?

Start the program then click on Help/About BeerSmith... Should say Version 1_40 Build 380. That's the latest updates.

    America, F**K yeah!

    Hell yes, brother!

    NASCAR and the weekend...

Do you believe that Shat? Jr. starts in daddies number 3 retro Wrangler car, and wins. Paaalease! He ain't won crap all year! I know the sport is suffering because of the economy, but this is the biggest NASCAR fix since he won the Daytona 500 after SR. died. Your thoughts?

    Fermenting temp at my house.

Those temps are way to high. Do a search for "swamp cooler". Basically a tub of water, ice bottles, a wet towel or tee-shirt, and maybe a fan.

    Freezer Temperature Question

+1 on this. I keep my air temp at 60* and my fermenter stays at 64*.

    Best Thermometer for Mashing temps

I picked up one of these at Target for about $15 or so. I just drilled a small hole through the lid of my MLT and drop it in until it's about half way into the mash. Timer is kind of nice, too. http://www.taylorusa.com/classic-digital-oven-thermometer.html

Grand Opening: 10% off all orders and 2 Pounds for $14.00

I would suggest loosing the burlap background all together. Look at some of the other sites, like AHB and NB, solid color or white (Preferred) backgrounds. Much easier to read, and looks more “Professional”, for lack of a better word. JMHO. :)

    Reccomend a thermostat, please

Yes, nothing done to the freezer. Plug it in, drop the temp probe in the freezer, shut the lid, set your controller settings, and that's it.

    Reccomend a thermostat, please

They do ship to Canada. It was pretty easy to wire. Used an extension cord. End up with a line to plug into the wall, and a line to plug the freezer into. Temp probe is nice too as its wire, not the copper coil like the non digital model.

    Reccomend a thermostat, please

I've got one of the Johnson A419 Digitals on my keezer. You can adjust the variance down to 1 degree. Very accurate controller. $67 to the door. http://www.energysavingcontrols.com/Search.aspx?k=A419ABC-1C+

    5-Gal. cooler... the Gott/Rubbermaid type?

Yes, but you will be pretty limited to the amount of grain you can mash. I have a 10 gallon myself. Here's link to Bobby_M's post on MLT sizing. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f11/how-big-your-mash-tun-needs-123585/

Building a coffin, and trying not to lose my cool...

Totally missed this thread, Ubermick. Looks great! :mug: For someone who claims to lack woodworking skills, you did a very fine job. :rockin: What did you use for the top surface? I like the color contrast with the dark wood. I did the same thing one day with my coffin. Fortunately, I was...

functionality of the water cooler mash tun

I've got the HD 10 gal myself with a CPVC manifold. I use about 18" of hose on the barb fitting and only leave about a pint of liquid in the MLT. Like jagg said, must be the siphon action at work.

    Which grain mill to buy?

Yea, I hear ya, ubermick. Looked at the MM2, but $50 more than the BC. Not to highjack, but did you ever start your keezer build?

    Which grain mill to buy?

That's great to hear, EdWort. Can't wait for my next brew day! Boys and toys. I need more carboys and kegs! Or, I need to drink more, if that's even possible...

Thanks, Noontime, I appreciate that, especially coming from an artist like yourself. Great site, by the way. Really nice work.

Ordered a Barley Crusher today. Can't beat Austin Homebrew Supply's price.

    New Summer Ale Label

I use Paint Shop Pro 5. I've had it for years and it's pretty easy to use, though a bit limited. I had Coy send me layered images, so I can pull what ever part of the original logo they did and use it with other pictures, like the palm trees or the girl.
