    Pipe smoking, a lost art.

I checked the briarpatch yesterday and joined. Looks like a good place with good people. I've been trying all kinds of different tobaccos, It seems that I like to change it up a lot and haven't really settled on an every day blend, although I bought a pound of Lane 1Q and tend to grab a quick...

    Couple of Quick Joam Questions

That may be true of most meads, but we are talking about JAOM here. By definition it is made with very poor protocol and technique. Mine took a lot longer than that.

    Couple of Quick Joam Questions

FWIW, I made this in February of 2012. I scaled up the recipe to about 4 gallons. It tasted like rocket fuel every time I tried it so I quit trying it a couple of years ago, maybe three. I had pretty much written it off. I opened a bottle today. Holy s.hit. What a change. The spices have...

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

No, it's a rack from a roaster pan. A low quality pan with a rack is really cheap. This one is twenty bucks on Amazon. (Of course, you can buy a rack without the pan for about the same price)

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

I did a turkey breast on the Weber yesterday. I usually wet brine turkeys but I dry brined this one. It was really good. My son said it was the best that we have had. I think I am sold on dry brining. So much less of a hassle and it was really good and extremely moist.

    Show us your Kegerator

There are a couple of threads on here where people have glued the wood directly to their keezers and they are still working after 4 or 5 years. I have a friend that is an AC+R guy. He laughs and says that the compressor life that you might lose is not worth the hassle of over engineering. The R...

I remember when you didn't have to have a degree in electrical engineering to work on your car.

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

I've found that this beer seems to take just a little longer than others to "come together". I think it is much better after a couple of weeks in the keg. Maybe the extra time was the trick?

I like this time at night on HBT

Hey all. It's been a while since I did the shameless dad brag and posted one of my daughter's songs. She wrote this one when she was getting ready to go off to school. Spanish Fort, AL is 1184 miles from NYU...

    The Walking dead

I gave up on this show quite a while ago. I kept up with what was going on overall, but I quit watching. It became that bad book that skimmed through because you didn't want to waste your time but wanted to get through to see how it ended. Sunday night I thought I'd give it another shot...

I like this time at night on HBT

I know the feeling, Dan. I retired in 2013. My last tour was a CMC job in Mobile AL for three years. We've been in the same house since 2000, the longest that my wife an I have ever been in one place. I've never really liked the house much. It was a foreclosure and it seems all I have done is...

On a completely different note... Dan, check out your pipe smoking thread. I've bought a few old pipes on Ebay and restored them. I am am enjoying a new hobby. This an old Brewster (cheap) pipe that I worked on.
