I have a problem in planning my first all grain

If you don't have a feeler gauge to measure the gap, recommend using a credit card (preferable one of those throw-away pre-approved fake ones that come in the mail, or a shopper card/old hotel key/etc...) to measure. You should be able to push it in between with force, making the rollers move...

I would say reduce your cara gold from 10.582oz to closer to 10.573oz :p How's the gap in the pasta roller? Bottom line - enjoy yourself and don't stress it too much.

advice for adding hops and straining in a basic setup

Your method will work - though I love my hop spider. Super easy and cheap to make and lots of examples on this forum if you search 'hop spider'.

    Wit Recipe need help

I think that much flaked wheat will cause you issues with your sparge. I would up the white wheat and reduce the flaked wheat. I use the following, though I've only made two batches and haven't experimented too much (though folks love this beer): 6# Pilsner 5# White Wheat 1# flaked oats...

Any recommendations for the widest 10 gallon brewpot

I use this one from Williams Brewing: http://www.williamsbrewing.com/BREWERS-EDGE-40-QUART-BREWKETTLE-P2366C50.aspx $100 with ball valve (brass). It's kinda thin, but has worked great for me. I can get it on both burners with minimal flame on the side. I use a little aluminum foil on the side...

Poll: Are you a kegger or bottler?

Can't vote - even split...all based off of empty keg space. I'll eventually move to 90% kegging, but can't fit a huge keezer in my apartment...someday

Most annoying response when you tell someone you're a homebrewer?

Whenever somebody sees more than one carboy fermenting/conditioning, or when I talk about adding a third keg to my small keezer... 'Do you really NEED that much beer?!?' ...as if adding a third tap means I'm drinking 50% more than I was with only 2 taps... Probably doesn't help when I...

My first batch...it doesn't taste good!

I brewed the same exact kit and kegged it. I was incredibly disappointed at first because it tasted so hot (heavy alcohol taste - like rubbing alcohol) and the flavors weren't very noticable. I was so bothered by that first taste (after about a month of fermenting/conditioning) that I never got...

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

Thanks to you both. I actually had 1/2 oz of each and used the tettnang for buttering and then cascade at 30, 20, and 10. IBUs were where they should be for an American Pale Ale...excited to see how it turns out.

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

I'm going to do a 3-gallon all grain batch of this - second all grain batch - only 3 gallon because of apartment range burner capability (other reasons too, but unrelated to my question). My grain bill varies slightly from the original - first due to 3 gallon, but also because I ended up...
