    AHS Fat Tire Clone question

Question for someone who has brewed the Fat Tire clone from AHS. I brewed last Wednesday so it's been in the primary for 6 days. I plan on leaving it in there for at least another 4-7 days. I have not taken a SG reading since I don't planning on moving it yet. I'm just gonna give it some...

Quick advice for a hops question!

I do use muslin bags for my hops. I know some people strain, some whirlpool, but I like to keep my stuff somewhat organized, which is why I use bags. Should I worry about the serility of the muslin bag when adding the last hops since they won't be part of any boil? May be a dumb question, but...

Quick advice for a hops question!

I am about 20 minutes into a mini mash kit from Austin Home Brewers. It is the Fatt Tire kit. I have not started the boil yet, I am still mashing/steeping, but I was reading through the directions and there are 3 kinds of hops and times listed: Target (bittering) @ 60 min (start), fuggle...

    Homebrewers Outpost Kits

I have brewed a couple Homebrewers Outpost kit, 1 Norther Brewer kit, and 2 Brewers Best kits. I have a kit on the way from Austin Home Brew. IMHO, especially if you are doing extract kits, there really isn't much of a difference. This place may give you a couple more things than the other, or...

    Homebrewers Outpost Kits

I made 2 kits from them last year. Both turned out really good. If I remember right, they give you not only the Muslin bags for the grains, but also for the hops which I really liked. I know some guys just let their hops free float during the boil, but I like to put them in the bags. They...

I don't like to brag, but.....

I am still fairly new to brewing, that I can admit. BUT, I recently brewed a beer that is probably one of the best that I myself have ever tasted. It has some amazing side affects. http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00622/beer_goggles_622180a.swf Hope everyone has a great day!

    Hydrometer Accuracy

I'm positive it's on the sheet that came with my hydrometer but since I'm not at home right now, what is the equation for the temperature conversion? Never mind.....it's called GOOGLE SEARCH! :-)

    $0 Wort Chiller

Great idea man! If I may kind of piggy back on your topic....I have been looking for a wort chiller but don't want to make the $50 plunge. Search out some DIY wort chillers and you'll be suprised how easily you could make your own. For around $20 you can pick up some light copper tubing...

    Different cold crash....please critique

Awesome, that was the peer pressure I was looking for. Thanks!

    Different cold crash....please critique

So you would suggest just skipping the secondary then? Wait another 8 days then go straight to bottle?

    Different cold crash....please critique

Brew Day was 1/2/11. OG - 1.053 Transferred to secondary on 1/7/11 with gravity of 1.025 (should be 1.012 - 1.015). That is the day I joined this forum and got REAL help. I know I transferred too early. Sat in the secondary for 6 days without ANY change to the SG. I contacted Brewers Best...

    Different cold crash....please critique

OK, so I'm a NOOB and I can admit it. I am on my 3rd batch or beer overall, first Dunkelweizen. I have read through cold crashing topics and have a decent handle on how it's done. However....with my circumstances, I would like to try something different and have a couple questions to round out...

    Cold Crashing??

To kind of piggy back on straylight77's question.....if using star san, should you put new stuff in before cold crashing? The star san I used in my airlock for fermenting is looking pretty hazy, is this still ok if it gets sucked in?

    Replacement Yeast Help!

How would you get it to stop fermentation? Colder temps? Will cold crashing (slowing fermentation), then bottling cause over carbonation at all? Or just stopping it then bottling?

    Tap-a-Draft System

Exactly! Those are the caps I picked up. Would you let me know how they work for you? I won't be filling my TAD bottles for a couple weeks.

    Tap-a-Draft System

How full do you fill your TAD bottle? Meaning, how much head space do you leave?

    Tap-a-Draft System

I hear ya on the information part....or the lack there of! Have you tried using them with the nitrogen? I picked up some nitrogen cartridges cause I read that they give better head (see what I did there ;) ). Any tips?

    Tap-a-Draft System

That's what I heard about the lids. Last night I stopped by a local store that carries VERY LITTLE brewing supplies and I was surprised to find some of the heavy duty caps! They don't carry any TAD stuff so I'm guessing it's just a generic cap for things, I wasn't sure if it would work or not...
