I do use muslin bags for my hops. I know some people strain, some whirlpool, but I like to keep my stuff somewhat organized, which is why I use bags. Should I worry about the serility of the muslin bag when adding the last hops since they won't be part of any boil? May be a dumb question, but...

Great idea man! If I may kind of piggy back on your topic....I have been looking for a wort chiller but don't want to make the $50 plunge. Search out some DIY wort chillers and you'll be suprised how easily you could make your own. For around $20 you can pick up some light copper tubing...

OK, so I'm a NOOB and I can admit it. I am on my 3rd batch or beer overall, first Dunkelweizen. I have read through cold crashing topics and have a decent handle on how it's done. However....with my circumstances, I would like to try something different and have a couple questions to round out...

To kind of piggy back on straylight77's question.....if using star san, should you put new stuff in before cold crashing? The star san I used in my airlock for fermenting is looking pretty hazy, is this still ok if it gets sucked in?

How would you get it to stop fermentation? Colder temps? Will cold crashing (slowing fermentation), then bottling cause over carbonation at all? Or just stopping it then bottling?

Exactly! Those are the caps I picked up. Would you let me know how they work for you? I won't be filling my TAD bottles for a couple weeks.

How full do you fill your TAD bottle? Meaning, how much head space do you leave?

I hear ya on the information part....or the lack there of! Have you tried using them with the nitrogen? I picked up some nitrogen cartridges cause I read that they give better head (see what I did there ;) ). Any tips?

That's what I heard about the lids. Last night I stopped by a local store that carries VERY LITTLE brewing supplies and I was surprised to find some of the heavy duty caps! They don't carry any TAD stuff so I'm guessing it's just a generic cap for things, I wasn't sure if it would work or not...
