    QD options.

yes, that is an appropriate application of this product. watch the temp schedules in the data sheets. they can get brittle at a temp below freezing. Limit the pressure to data sheet numbers found on the website. they do also make a nickle plated brass version of their plc line which connects...

    new keg...new questions

you can force carb it in 30 min or so once the temp equalizes with the fridge temp. until then you are going to want to keep enough pressure inside to keep the lid seated. take it out and hit it with pressure every few hours as it is cooling. at 24 hours you should be able to force carb it easy...

Buying a house in 2010. Choose my housewarming gift!

Given permission from the war department i would get a conical fermenter so fast the ink would not be dry on the mortgage before the wife changed her mind.... all other things can be accumulated..... (i learned this from her shoe closet): honest honey, i have had that xyza item for some time, i...

    coors Keg ss or aluminum?

i doubt you will ever actually find an aluminum keg in 1/2 barrel size... people report them, but the material is just not durable enough for what they experience handling wise with commercial kegs..... ppl think they are aluminum because of the color.. un-shined stainless will look that way...

    Cheaper to buy or brew?

Anyone who needs to justify brewing via lower per glass cost doesn't really like it.... some ppl love to cook, and others don't. Some like golf, others don't, and that's ok. If you don't love it enough to do it even if you had to pay a little more, then that's ok.... but it really doesn't cost...

    Smack Pack not Smacked

I also find the corner of the inner bag, lay it on the table after i smack it and make sure i squeeze all the wort out of the package. I have heard experiences from people who got the inner pack open but the majority of the grown yeast is inside of the little packet.

    Newbie with brew kettle question

go as big as you can afford. If you spring for ss, go for anything with a thicker bottom to prevent scorching. Blichman is good stuff though comes at a cost. I second the turkey fryer comment. Even if you eventually go bigger you can us it as a hot liquor tank.

How do you siphon from 1 gallon jugs??? grr!

I used to fill the tubes with sanitizer to start the siphon. Recently i started jamming a turkey baster (clean new purpose specific and sanitized) into the end of the tube and started a suction. Much less fluid loss. works well.

    Brew stand concept

I looked at a design like that. Should work. I ultimately went with a longer narrower unit because it stores and moves easier. I went with a single shelf inside that runs 3/4 length, for storage and holding the propane tanks. I left my boil kettle loose so i could place it inside the stand for...

    Brew Pal Question

I am going to take a guess here, but a 9 lb grain bill should mash with 12 qts of water for a medium stiff mash. 1.5 gallons boil off in 1 hour seems to be about right depending on your pot and burner. The grain is going to absorb .14 gallons per lb aprox. I am not sure about the software...
