How important is clear beer to you?

I had a feeling that there'd be wide ranging opinion on this topic. For what it's worth, I don't think it takes too much extra effort to get beer looking clear... but you guys have a huge advantage over us homebrewers in Japan... there are no local homebrew shops here. None! We have to order...

How important is clear beer to you?

I've recently lost the urge to spend any time whatsoever trying to clear my beer. I just don't care any more. Anyone else out there like me? :rockin:

    Home brewing in Japan

I haven't used it before but I've been warned that it takes forever to ship. I'm going to go ahead and make an order now... guess I'll just have to stick with a corona mill until the new one arrives. Getting ready to dry hop my IPA tomorrow. Good times! Looking forward to having some...

    Home brewing in Japan

Anyone had any experience ordering from www.aliexpress.com and having things shipped to Japan? I'm looking to get a new grain mill and they seem reasonable. Under $100 for stainless steel two rollers shipped.

A rye coconut porter with yamazaki infused vanilla beans sounds interesting. Where'd you get the rye? Been looking for that and CaraRye but no luck.

I like this setup. Any things you'd do differently if you were to do it again. Also, which aquarium heater do you use? One with an adjustable temperature control? I'm having trouble finding anything like that for under 3000Y... and even those ones are for 10L-15L aquariums... seems like they...

    Home brewing in Japan

Anyone get up to any brewing this long weekend? I finally got around to my first batch in about 1.5 years. My technique was pretty rusty but pretty happy with the results so far. My IPA is bubbling away now... I hoping to get a pipeline going soon so will be brewing up some smaller batches...

Comments on this IPA recipe please

Yeah. That's a good point. I made the recipe to use NB and then didn't follow it! It's already in the fermenter! Need to pay more attention!

Comments on this IPA recipe please

Just checked my notes and noticed the Amarillo was actually a 45 min addition. It was actually supposed to be a 28g Northern Brewer addition at 60 mins. I changed it now! Nothing was added at 60 mins. Whoops. Maybe one too many today!

    Home brewing in Japan

Hey fellas, I've been out of touch for awhile and sadly not been brewing for the last year or so. It's not all bad news though! I was too busy because my wife and I had a baby girl last winter. Anyway, things have calmed down enough to allow me to start brewing again. All grain IPA...

    Milled grain in airtight containers

I know the 'how long does milled grain last' thread has been done a few times but I can't find the answer I'm looking for (I searched, honest!) I have milled grain that has been kept in airtight containers since about three days after milling. It's been in containers now for about 8 months...

My hops poking out of the ground now. Magnum, Cascade and Shinshiwase are a few inches tall already and Centennial is just starting to sprout. Getting excited!

Last time I checked Sakeland had 20kg bags for sale on their website.

I just got 20kgs from them, crushed. It looks good. I think all in, including crush, delivery, fax and furikomi cost I paid about 5200¥

    Home brewing in Japan

I suppose it is a little more convenient but ordering from Brewland means paying at least 2000¥ more per bag. All it takes to order from Asahi is faxing the order which costs 20-50¥ at any convenience store. Thanks again Tektonjp!

It should be fine. They have a different price structure if you are a licensed brewery so they ask for information about your company.

    Home brewing in Japan

Sorry. I meant a dozen or so craft beer companies. There is usually two or three offerings from each company. Some are pretty poor though to be honest... I'm always sad when I buy something that I can make better at home :) Even though I live in a pretty rural area for Japan we have quite a...

    Home brewing in Japan

Yep. There is one near my house actually. They usually have a dozen or so craft beers and about half are switched out every once in a while. The imported beer is pretty sweet too. It's a bit pricey but good for a go when I want something different.
