OK i think i made my first boo boo

it's still good, but you'll probably need to build up a new oxide layer. do that by boiling water in it for a few minutes

    Bottle Bombs Away!

those bottles typically aren't rated for beer. you should really use bottles that are specifically designed to handle pressure, like old beer bottles or even soda bottles. also a hyrometer may be a good investment if you haven't got one already so you can tell when fermentation is done

3 weeks or longer for bottling time?

it depends what kind of beer it is. lighter/ lower alcohol beers might be ready after a few weeks, but bigger beers tend to take longer. you could put a bottle in the fridge for a few days and see if it's ready

Mr. Beer(adding sugar and whats best)

corn sugar is what some people call priming sugar. it's also known as dextrose. you could try batch priming which is a bit easier than doing the bottles individually

    Are cocoa nibs necessary?

    Are cocoa nibs necessary?

I've got a chocolate milk stout that's just about finished primary. i threw 1lb of chocolate malt and 4oz of cocoa powder in the boil. should i bother putting cocoa nibs in the secondary as the recipe says or will that make it too overpowering? i drank my gravity sample and it's tasting pretty...
