My "Mostly natural" Lagering setup - with pics...

I'm not replacing anything! But maybe someone else will lol... Also, the equipment I bought is made especially for being around WET places. Its UL listed specifically for that. So, to be on the safer side i'd still choose to spend the extra 30-40 dollars. But you are right, you could wire a...

My "Mostly natural" Lagering setup - with pics...

The temperature reader part is submersed in the water against the wall of the cooler, although now i'm thinking it should go against the carboy, probably not much of a difference... it is on the opposite side of the cooler where the heater is. Seems to be working great! The best thing about...

My "Mostly natural" Lagering setup - with pics...

A close up of the controls... Where my beer will be served AND stored in the keg for lagering periods... I keep this sucker around 32-30 degrees. I like my beer COLD! Ale's awaiting kegging!

My "Mostly natural" Lagering setup - with pics...

Ok, I am doing my first lager, for those who read my previous thread about creating this system you'll know how it came about :) If anyone wants details for the 2 parts I used I will give them. Total price $75.00 shipped.... Pretty fair I think, it will allow me to lager probably 10 carboys...

    Stupid question, cheep beer

    1. Even buying kegs is NOT cheap, considering all invested, I started with just kegs, i'm quite sure my "keg setup" (3 taps in a FREE freezer) hasnt paid for itself yet, but I have no bottles laying around! 2. I DONT care what ANYONE here says, homebrewing for the serious drinker is going to...

    1st batch question

From my experience there will always be some activity in the secondary. I am still a beginner, BUT, I have realized the importance of time with beer. I already dont like to "depend" on a hydrometer, although I still use it. Here's what I do: When my "bubbling" gets to about 1 per minute...

Cant wait to join the AG club... I want 10 gallons first!

    Does 6 Gal. Primary = Blow-off?

Simple answer = YES, you will have NO problems brewing ordinary recipe's with your 6.5 primary and 5 secondary. That entails pitching yeast without a starter, which is also not a problem. Chances are at this stage (you're not too far behind me) that you need to aquint yourself more with the...

Easiest way to do 10 gallon batches...

Well, I think I want to do full boil 10 gallon batches and eventually go all grain. Here is what i'm thinking so far: Build a complex, expensive "Keg" 3-tier system Build two cooler style systems with 2 turkey fryers and boil 2-5 gallon batches at once. It seems the cost of equipment...

    Want to build a 10-gallon 3-tier system

It gives me hope! I guess the biggest part is obtaining the kegs. My uncle just GAVE a keg to the beer place that he had for 5 years! He got a measly $10.00 for it NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I live in NY and our total keg deposit is $75.00 NYS + 10.00 KEG, so its not economical to "not...

Keg leaks when CO2 is attached

    1. Fill your bath tub 2. Attach the pressure to the keg, bump the regulator up to 30-40 PSI 3. Disconnect and quickly go to your bathtub and put the keg in it while there is still pressure 4. Report back

    Want to build a 10-gallon 3-tier system

I want to build a 3-tier 10 gallon system CHEAPLY ($200.00 or less!) for doing 10G AG batches over the winter. Does anyone have any links to threads, websites, suggestions for parts, assembly etc... Much appreciated.

    How to convert to AG

Check out www.austinhomebrew.com , all of their recipie's come in Malt, mini-mash and all grain. I would personally switch to doing full boils with a turkey fryer, then switch to doing mini-mash and then finally invest in building an AG set. If you look in the AG forum on here you will find...
