"Would you help me with the bags?"
"Sure, you take the redhead, I'll get the blonde!" Or something like that...
I think RackEmUp just transferred to secondary.
Yeah, pectic enzyme to clear it up, it's worth it.
Oh yeah, "IT'S ALIIIIIIVE!!"
Was almost scared to try it 'cause I don't really like sour beers, well I assumed wrong.
This one was tasty. Farmhouse ale. I had to look up "saison", learned something, never
bothered before. Was never a big fan of the fruit beer category either but maybe the few
I tried before were not so great.
Visited the Nephew & family, they know I like lotsa different beers, that's what I got for Christmas!
They picked up some good ones from Tipsy's, huge liquor store at the edge of town.
Said they had several beer advisors handy, got a 20 minute review of some beers.
Brought this bottle home, I...
Don't take me for an expert BUT I've used out of date (3 years) dry yeast from the fridge,
made a starter to test their viability, haven't had one fail yet. They're tough I guess.
I have had old hops from the freezer that didn't smell very good, tossed 'em.
I thought this thread was dead!
With my vast apfelwein knowledge (from reading this thread) I think it'll be fine.
You've probably already noticed activity in the secondary? Might take a little while to
get rolling again, there are probably plenty of sugars for the yeasties to eat.
Try a...
I missed an opportunity! The cute new Waitr..., uh, "Server" at Bubba's brought me a Bell's 2-hearted with my guacamole bacon cheeseburger for lunch today
(Monday is burger special day there). W/ tater tots! Didn't even think of a pic.
I just cooked up a 2-hearted clone Saturday, bubbling away...
(Dual purpose post...)
Hey lawdawg, I'll see your aluminum and raise you a ceramic...
(Denver Stock Exchange)
Old Ale from a kit, I'm drinking the last one that didn't quite fill up.
Kinda sweet from the priming sugar but has promise.
40 bottles of all different sizes (if you discount the...
Looks good. No deposit..., wonder if they were beer or maybe seltzer bottles?
Search utoob for bottle digger or bottle digging, like metal detecting or magnet fishing.
They dig up old dumps & outhouses, find some bottles from 1800s. Clean em with
a tumbler using bits of copper as a polishing...
And speakin of drool, thanks a lot grampamark & BrewinInPa, another one I'll have to try to make.
You sold me, I copied the ingredients in case I can't find the kit.
Let's see, Elk Snot, right?
I think I can do it with my simple setup, have done grain beers before.
I used to like a Scots Pine Ale, can't remember the name, haven't seen it for a while.
Pine needles instead of hops. Is that what this one's like?
Anyone remember the name?
Edit: sorry I got all excited (drool), found it, called "Alba".
Supposedly introduced to Scotland by Vikings. Pretty...
My 1st apfelwein is clearing! Looks purty but only been in there less than a month.
I'll let it stay for a while.
2nd batch has calmed down but still pretty active, removed blowoff, replaced bubbler.
About 12 sec. per bubble.
The next batch is in the primary but wasn't an Octoberfest...
I remember when this brewery was very small.
I had been to the Busch brewery and thought breweries in general
were huge industrial facilities, like a factory.
Whatever wouldn't fit in the last bottle. My "BS Ale".
Wasn't nasty, has potential. Probably not enough hops.
Had a glass while cleaning up.
Fell asleep on the couch, don't remember what I was watching.
'Course I do that anyway sometimes :>)
Thought I had one with the American Flag on it, bicentennial souveneir.
I'll check later. Hope I'm not veering off course for the thread tho...
Oh yeah, Foster's poster in the dock where I used to work:
a girl coming out of the surf holding a beer, "If you're suckin' a lime,
your beer's a lemon".
