Mylar (heat sealable) bags for long term storage

I just pulled out last years harvest to dry hop a beer and noticed that the hops had lost their bright green color compared to this years harvest, which I just loaded in the freezer in food saver bags. Last years hops were stored in food saver vacuum bags as well and in a freezer which is...

Mylar (heat sealable) bags for long term storage

I have been poking around the food storage websites and mylar, when bought in bulk as mentioned above is a great deal. The major drawback is that mylar bags cannot be evacuated with a standard vacuum sealer. However, I stumbled across these videos: Has anyone tried this before, and was it...

    Aerating with Oxygen

I think you will find it hard to apply the correct amount of o2 consistently. Most people set the dial to only 2-3 psi when injecting o2... that will be pretty hard to read on this scale.

    Aerating with Oxygen

Indeed, anyone who has the classic style regulator (PSI) and a flow meter that reads in L/m. Could you give us an idea of what PSI correponds to a given flow rate, and be sure to mention whether you have a 0.5 or a 2 um stone. Then we will be able to get into the ballpark pressure without...

    Aerating with Oxygen

I thought that the more your oxygenate the wort the longer lag time you will have due to aerobic respiration lasting...

I would be interested. I just harvested my hops and ready for analysis. Are you still planning on doing this? I also am a biochemist and work in a lab... could you send me (PM) your method? I am curious to see if I have enough of the resources and consumables already.

"polishing your keg" is more than a clever euphemism

Ok, good thoughts. My pad definitely looks black and mangled when I am done with it... it sounds like i am asking too much of one pad. I will keep all that in mind on the next keg. One down, two to go! cheers!

"polishing your keg" is more than a clever euphemism

Did anyone have any problems with the buffing compound sticking to the keg? It mostly occurred as as a sticky black mess in all the uneven corners on the keg. The buffing compound package said that to prevent sticking, warm the metal first... so I let the keg sit in the California sun while at...

2 inch shank for sale or trade

I have a 2 inch shank that has a stainless steel collar, the nut for the faucet and the nut to clamp it to the wall. I would be interested in trading it for a 4 inch shank or selling this one for 10 bucks not including shipping. thanks, Mike
