Fruit Beer Strawberry Alarm Clock v3.0 (Strawberry Blonde)

Wow! As always the support from the homebrew community is amazing. Thanks for clarifying that about the 04 - it makes alot of sense and I'm more willing to give it a try again in the future! The hop utilization also makes sense, and I learned somthing new now about that! Let me correct my...

Fruit Beer Strawberry Alarm Clock v3.0 (Strawberry Blonde)

Hello people who have actually brewed this before - I've read through this fantastically old thread filled with literally years of trial and error, but found no one post with any attempts on a more "aggressive" partial mash. To clarify, I have a simple 1 gallon mash tun that I used to mash up to...

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Jalapeno Cream Ale

Quick update on this - after letting sit in the keg for about 3 weeks, the spice has toned down quite a bit and has really incorporated itself more into the overall flavor of the beer. At first, it dominated the palate. Give this one some aging time, it'll do it nothing but good.

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Jalapeno Cream Ale

Good to know! I just poured the first pint of this and experienced the same thing. I did 4 jalapeños in the boil, and 4 in the primary after 7 days. Let them sit for another 10 days and kegged. It's only been in the keg for a week, but it's like drinking a jalapeño! Not unbearable, but...

Recipe Request - Citra Pale Ale

Brewing this next weekend as my first Pale using citra! I'll use my mini mash-tun that holds max 3 lbs of grain. Should I just keep it at the grain bill listed? Or increase it a bit? I was thinking: 1lb Crystal 40L .75 lbs White Wheat .75 Carapils Thanks!

    Cider noob order of operations?

Thanks for the advice Eric. It seems to be kegs for the win once again! Best Investment I've made.

    Cider noob order of operations?

I'm venturing Into my first cider as well, but I have the ability to keg. I guess I'd ferment, back sweeten and keg? Can It be that simple?

Specialty Fruit Beer Honey Apricot Ale

Koz, I've finally brewed my lager partial mash conversion of this recipe this past weekend! 6 lbs Pale LME 1lb Pale Munich Malt 1lb Pale Domestic 2-row 8 oz. Honey Malt 8 oz. Crystal 60L .25oz Magnum @ 60min .75 oz. Cascade @20 min .25 oz. Willamette @20min .75 oz. Cascade @5 min .25 oz...

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Jalapeno Cream Ale

Thank you for this recipe. I brewed a partial mash version, subbing the Pale Malts for 5 lbs Light LME. Mashed the specialty grains and flaked corn at 152 for 1 hr. Also, I bumped down the 60 mins hops to .75 oz., and the 25 min hops to .75 oz. This gave it a projected IBU at 28.7 (which was my...

Fantastic Hard Cider Recipe with Instructions (and fall spice / cherry variations)

Hey all! I'm going to bump this thread a bit because I'm planning on brewing this as my first cider. My question is this - can I skip the bottle pasteurization by just racking to my 5-gal corny keg and cold condition it at 40 degrees?

Cloudy Or Clear --- And Why?

I think if you want to stay true to the "style" of beer you're brewing, worry about clarity. If not, it doesn't matter. I think its just a matter of personal preference, or if brewing for a larger audience (commercially) aesthetics of the product. Personally, I like hazy, unfiltered beer like...

If you could only ferment at room temp (68-72F)...

I ferment at 69 degrees mostly with US-05, but I've had very good results with US-04, and Belgain wit (Wyeast 3944). However, typically from what I've read, as long as it doesn't surpass the recommended temp range (usually up to 75 degrees) you should be fine controlling esters and the...

    Are Kegs Worth the Cost?

To be honest with you, I paid $70 per ball lock keg I own. I know it's on the high side, but there isn't much available here in central FL for homebrewers. On the flip side, I don't regret a dollar of that purchase. I have one regulator, a c02 line slitter for both kegs, and a kegerator that...

warmer lagering using California Lager Yeast

A bit late to the thread, but I'm planning to use the White Labs 810 strand for my next batch. I can control temps to about 63-65 degrees (I live in Florida) using swamp water/ice pack method. I have a kegerator that maintains 39 degrees. My question is: shall I primary for 2 weeks at 63...
