    Strange taste

Its just hard to identify the flavor. I can best describe it as hairspray.
  2. MashTun-Kutcher

    Strange taste

Too hot of fermentation could definitely be it. I ferment in a glass carboy so plastic isnt the issue.

    Strange taste

Nothing on that wheel jumps out at me. But im leaning toward solventlike maybe? Im familiar with the flavors of alcohol like "hotness" and thats definately not the strange thing in my beer. And i just use the gallon jugs of drinking water, i use starsan, i do use an aluminum pot but the tastes...

    Strange taste

The past 2 beers i have brewed (pale ale, blonde ale) have developed a weird taste that seems to come along as the beer chills. Its hard to explain but its almost like a hairspray taste and i dont know what to do about it. The beer is definitely drinkable but this strange flavor is annoying me...

    SP-10 issues

I bought a bayou sp10 on amazon.com but it doesnt seem to work. The stand and burner itself look brand new but the braided propane cord/regulator look used. When i light the burner, it burns a small flame for a few seconds and then lets out a "POOF" sound and the small flame is gone. Has anyone...

    Over-carbed corny

Oh and when i pour that glass of all foam, its flat. No carbonation. What do i do?
  9. MashTun-Kutcher

    Over-carbed corny

So bleed it until the beer comes out, then wait. Then bleed it again later until beer comes out, repeat, repeat, repeat?

    Over-carbed corny

Last night was the first time i have attempted kegging so i hooked it up at 30 psi and rolled it for 5 min (at room temp) and put it in the kegerator to chill for 12 hours at 30 psi. Today i set it back down to the serving pressure of 7 psi and purged the c02 out but beer just came shooting out...

    Quick StarSan question

A spray bottle sounds like a damn good idea. I already picked one up!

    Quick StarSan question

Yeah true. 5 gallons is a convenient amount it seems like though.
  15. MashTun-Kutcher

    Quick StarSan question

Hey guys, I try and brew every sunday so i fly through bottles of StarSan. I make a new 5-gallon solution for brew day, racking day, and bottling day so i was wondering if i could leave that 5-gallon solution in a spare bucket and use the same solution on a weekly basis. If i can, would the...

    Insane Nottingham

    Regardless, I don't trust it.
  17. MashTun-Kutcher

    Insane Nottingham

Yep, I put it on the yeast cake but I don't trust the cake to ferment my ipa all the way so I pitched the notty.
  18. MashTun-Kutcher

Do you always have to use a blow-off tube?

I use a blow-off for all of my primary fermenters just to be safe. It'll never hurt to have one since its essentially a giant airlock.
  19. MashTun-Kutcher

    Insane Nottingham

So i racked my freshly cooled Imperial IPA wort onto an old yeast cake and pitched an 11g packet off Nottingham on top of it and 3 hours later it was ERUPTING! Kraussen was flowing non-stop into my 5-gallon bucket overflow since it blew through my 1-gallon milk jug. lol THis has never happened...
